プレミア復帰のバーンリー、チリ人GKビグルーを獲得

プレミアリーグに復帰したバーンリーは27日、チリ人GKローレンス・ビグルー(29)をフリーで獲得したと発表した。契約期間は2026年6月までの3年間となっている。

ロンドン生まれのビグルーは若手時代にトッテナムやリバプールに在籍。ただプレミアリーグの出場歴はなく、これまで下部リーグのスウィンドン・タウンやレイトン・オリエントに所属し、正GKとしてプレーしていた。

今季は4部のレイトンでリーグ戦45試合に出場していた。

リバプール育ちの元イングランド代表DFフラナガンが29歳で現役引退…ヒザのケガが原因

クラブ史上初のプレミアリーグ昇格を決めたルートン・タウンだが、懸念されていたスタジアム問題に直面する結果となった。 2022-23シーズンのプレミアリーグ昇格プレーオフ決勝では、コベントリー・シティとの対戦でPK戦を制して昇格を決めたルートン・タウン。クラブ史上初となるプレミアリーグ昇格はビッグニュースとなった。しかし、本拠地であるケニルワース・ロードには問題が。1905年からルートン・タウンの本拠地として使用されているケニルワース・ロードだが、プレミアリーグの基準を満たしていない状況。収容人数は1万356人であり、最低要件である5000人は上回っている状況だが、テレビ中継のための施設などが満たされていないという。そのため、新たなスタンドを建設しており、予定より早く作業は進んでいるとのこと。しかし、プレミアリーグの開幕には間に合わせられる保証ができないことから、初のホームゲームの延期を発表した。ルートン・タウンはクラブを通じて「プロジェクトの規模により、クラブはサポーターに対し、将来の予期せぬ問題によって遅延が生じ、ホームで予定されている開幕戦に影響を及ぼす可能性がないことを絶対に保証することはできない」と声明。早い段階で決断することで、しっかりと予定を組めると判断したとした。プレミアリーグの開幕戦では日本代表MF三笘薫が所属するブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオンとのアウェイゲームを戦うが、19日にバーンリーをホームに迎えて初のプレミアリーグを戦う予定だった。なお、クラブは2019年に新スタジアムの建設計画で許可をもらっており、2026年に完成予定。ただ、それまでにプレミアリーグの要件を満たすため、1000万ポンド(約17億4700万円)規模の改修工事を進めている。 2023.07.15 10:40 Sat
