今季リーグ・アンで躍動のFWバログン、アメリカ代表を選択可能に…FIFAが承認

日本代表MF伊東純也の同僚であるスタッド・ランスのU-21イングランド代表FWフォラリン・バログン(21)が、アメリカ代表になることが許可された。『ESPN』が伝えた。

バログンはアーセナルの下部組織出身で、2022年1月にミドルズブラにレンタル移籍。2022年8月にスタッド・ランスにレンタル移籍した。

今シーズンのリーグ・アンでは34試合に出場し19ゴールの活躍を見せ、来シーズンの去就が大きく注目されることに。アーセナルに復帰するのか、他クラブへ移籍するのか、今夏の移籍市場を賑わす存在となっている。
そのバログンは、アーセナルのファーストチームで10試合に出場し2ゴール1アシストを記録している。

代表レベルでは世代別のイングランド代表を経験。U-18ではアメリカ代表でプレーしていた。
U-21イングランド代表でも13試合で7ゴールと将来が期待されていたが、アメリカサッカー連盟(USSF)がイングランド代表からの変更を国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)に要請。 FIFAは16日に要請を承認した。

バログンはニューヨーク出身で、アメリカ代表だけでなく、両親がナイジェリア出身のためにナイジェリア代表でもプレーする資格があった。

U-21欧州選手権が今夏行われる中、U-21イングランド代表としてプレーする可能性もあったが、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)が承認したとのことだ。

2026年の北中米ワールドカップを自国で開催するアメリカ。バログンがエースとして躍動する可能性もありそうだ。

「超いいね」「絶対買う」日本代表のLINEスタンプ第2弾が発売! W杯参加の全26選手や森保一監督のデザインが話題「ブラボースタンプいい」

「クールだね」米女子代表ラピノーがピンクのベリーショートヘアに!「ファビュラスだ」

吐く息は真っ白、-19℃の過酷環境でW杯予選が開催! 選手たちも寒すぎて防寒対策
