しかし、メッシはパリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)に移籍すると、アグエロ氏はその後行われた10月30日のアラベス戦の試合中に心臓の異常を訴えて交代。検査の結果、不整脈を診断され、現役引退という決断を下していた。
プロサッカー選手としてのキャリアは幕を閉じたものの、2022年のカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)では、悲願の優勝を果たしたアルビセレステの面々とともに大いに喜ぶ姿を見せ、さらに元スペイン代表DFジェラール・ピケ氏がチェアマンを務める7人制サッカーの大会「キングス・リーグ」にも選手として参加するなど、元気な姿も見せていた。
そうした中、29日にいつものようにライブ配信を行っていたアグエロ氏だが、突然心臓のあたりを手で押さえながら沈黙。一緒に配信を行っていたイバイ・ジャノス氏も心配して声をかけるほどだった。
それでも心配するジャノス氏は医者に診てもらうか聞いたものの、アグエロ氏は「(心臓の)チップが状況を感知してくれるから大丈夫」と語ると、「僕が死ぬところを想像してみてよ」と冗談も言い放ち、念のため配信を終えていた。
なお、アグエロ氏はその後自身のツイッターを更新。「お医者さんからは何も問題ないと言われたよ。心配しないで」とファンに無事を報告している。

アグエロが配信中に突如不整脈を発症…2021年に現役引退

メッシと妻は30年来の仲、幼馴染の2人が結ばれW杯で優勝するまで

メッシ 大好きなマテ茶のストローは7万円超えの特別仕様

まさに“アグエロ+マラドーナ”、昨年電撃引退のアグエロが息子の13歳バースデーを祝う「愛している」
