ポルトガル代表FWクリスティアーノ・ロナウドの退団を受けて、もともと手薄な前線の補強に緊急性が生じるユナイテッド。エリク・テン・ハグ監督からもたびたびストライカーを求める発言がなされ、オランダ代表FWコーディ・ガクポをリバプールに持っていかれてしまった後に白羽の矢が立ったのがヴェグホルストだ。
ただ、ヴェグホルストはバーンリーからベシクタシュにローン移籍中の選手。ユナイテッドが獲得する道筋として2クラブとの合意を得る必要ありと複雑だったが、移籍市場に精通するイタリア人のファブリツィオ・ロマーノ氏によると、すべての条件が揃い、オランダが誇る大型FWのユナイテッド行きが確定したという。
ユナイテッドは口頭合意に漕ぎつけたというベシクタシュと補償金として300万ユーロ(約4億2000万円)を支払う形で決着。バーンリーからのローン選手として加わるヴェグホルストは12日にもマンチェスターに飛び、ユナイテッドのメディカルテストを経て、契約書に調印を済ませる模様だ。

プレートにタッチで炎上のヴェグホルスト、アグボンラホール氏は同情 「大きな問題にしたがっている」

「絶対に謝らない」ハーランド父に復讐したロイ・キーンが“報復”タックルを否定

「後悔が1つある」カントナが“カンフーキック”事件を回顧「もっと強く蹴っていれば…」

第4審の人種差別発言で中断のPSGvsイスタンブールBBSKが9日に延期…《CL》
