D・ヘンダーソン、カタールW杯行きを諦めず「確かに不利な状況だけど…」

ノッティンガム・フォレストのGKディーン・ヘンダーソンが、イングランド代表入りへの思いを語っている。

マンチェスター・ユナイテッドの下部組織出身のヘンダーソンは、出場機会を求めて今夏にフォレストへレンタル移籍した。昨季はわずか5試合に出場しただけだったが、新天地では正GKとしてリーグ戦では全試合に出場している。

そんな中、今回のインターナショナルマッチウィークでは、イングランド代表で守護神の地位を築くジョーダン・ピックフォードが負傷中のため、代わりにヘンダーソンが招集された。ただ、昨夏のユーロ以来の招集となったが、イタリア戦とドイツ戦ともに出番はなく、4番手であることを痛感させられることになった。

イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』のインタビューでは他のGKより遅れをとっていることを認めたヘンダーソン。それでも、カタールW杯でのスリーライオンズ入りに向けて諦めない姿勢を示した。

「今は遅れていると思う。明らかに昨シーズンはほとんどプレーできてなかったし、他のみんなは上手くやっていた」

「僕の最大のチャンスは試合に出てガレス・サウスゲイト監督にアピールすること。願わくば良い印象を与えられるといいね」

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」

ブリッジは“不倫男”テリーを未だに許さず? 自身の近くに引っ越し発覚後、自宅を売却に出す
