2019年夏にアヤックスから加入して、今季で3年目のF・デ・ヨング。その今季もここまで公式戦45試合に出場して4得点5アシストを記録中だが、たびたび今夏の売却候補に挙がっている。
それもこれも財政難に苦しむチーム事情が絡み、来季の補強資金を捻出する一環とされるなか、来季からエリク・テン・ハグ監督の下で再建を図るユナイテッドの関心がにわかに噂される。
他にもバイエルンの興味も取り沙汰されるが、バルセロナの内情に精通するスペイン人記者のジェラール・ロメロ氏によると、ユナイテッド入りの可能性がかなり高まっているという。

C・ロナウドの母が息子への願望を語る「私が死ぬ前に、スポルティングへ」
