バーンリー、ウッドの後釜にヴォルフスブルクからヴェグホルストを獲得!

バーンリーは31日、ヴォルフスブルクからオランダ代表FWヴォウト・ヴェグホルスト(29)を獲得したことを発表した。契約は2025年夏までとなる。

母国のヘラクレスやAZでのプレーを経て、2018年夏にヴォルフスブルクに加入したヴェグホルスト。197cmを誇る長身を生かし、1年目から34試合17ゴール7アシストという鮮烈なブンデスリーガデビューを果たした。

さらに昨シーズンはリーグ戦34試合で20ゴール9アシストと圧巻のスタッツを記録。オランダ代表ストライカーの活躍で、ヴォルフスブルクも6年ぶりにトップ4に入り、チャンピオンズリーグ出場権を獲得していた。

今シーズンもリーグ戦18試合で6ゴール1アシストを記録していた中で、エースのFWクリス・ウッドがニューカッスルに引き抜かれたバーンリーが獲得に乗り出した。

イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』によれば、移籍金は推定1200万ポンド(約18億6000万円)。契約解除金2500万ポンドで引き抜かれたウッドと比較すると半額以下となる移籍金だ。

ショーン・ダイチ監督は「ヴォウトはスカウトがかなり注目していた選手だ。バーンリーでの全てに適合できると感じている。彼がこのグループを正しく前進させてくれることを願っている」と喜びのコメントを残している。
