今月の代表ウィークで行われるカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)欧州予選グループIの2試合に向けて調整を続けているイングランド代表。練習の中でMFフィル・フォーデンがその才能の片鱗を見せつけた。ジュード・ベリンガム(ドルトムント)やデクラン・ライス(ウェストハム)、カルヴァン・フィリップス(リーズ・ユナイテッド)に加えて、今回は不参加だがメイソン・マウント(チェルシー)やジェームズ・ウォード=プラウズ(サウサンプトン)など熾烈さを極めるスリーライオンズの中盤争いの中でも、フォーデンは10月の2試合ではともにフル出場を果たした。

マンチェスター・シティでは前線でも起用されている状況だが、イングランド代表の練習でもそのシュート技術を遺憾なく発揮。右サイドからのクロスに対し、体を上手く回転させながらバイシクルキック。完璧に捉えた強烈なシュートはゴールネットに突き刺さり、周囲からは歓声も沸いていた。
フォーデンの技ありシュートはイングランド代表の公式ツイッターも動画で紹介。「簡単そうに見えちゃう」「天才だろ」「ミラクルショットだ」と絶賛の声が集まった。

12日にアルバニア代表戦とホームで対戦後、15日にサンマリノ代表とのアウェイ戦に臨むイングランド。前線にもタレントは控えているが、フォーデンのFW起用も十分に考えられそうだ。

ダービーに向けケガ人について語るグアルディオラ監督、ドイツ戦で負傷のストーンズは「10日から2週間」

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」
