バルセロナのスペイン代表MFペドリは疲労の色が濃いようだ。イギリス『スポーツ・バイブル』が伝えている。バルセロナに所属する18歳の新星は戦術理解度が高く、ピッチの至るところに顔を出し、ボールを扱う技術も高い。そのため、クラブでも代表でも中盤に欠かせないピースとなっている。

昨季バルセロナでは公式戦52試合に出場し、その後はスペイン代表としてユーロ2020を6日の準決勝まで6試合を戦った。東京オリンピック代表にも選ばれ、休む間もなく日本入り。22日のU-24エジプト代表戦でもフル出場を果たしている。
298日で63試合に出場という過密日程を強いられることになったペドリ。SNSで公開された写真では、頬がこけかなりやつれて見え、心なしか瞳の光も乏しいように見える。昨シーズン開幕前のあどけなさの残る笑顔と比較すると、この1年で何十歳も年を重ねたようにみえてしまう。

それを見たファンからは疲労を心配する声があがっており「ストレスを抱えているようだ!」、「誰か彼を助けてあげて!」などのコメントが寄せられた。
また、バルセロナの指揮官ロナルド・クーマン監督は、この夏のユーロでのパフォーマンスを称賛しつつ、ペドリがオリンピックに呼ばれたことに失望したと、スペイン『マルカ』に語っている。

「ペドリは驚異的だ。わずか18歳で、彼はほぼすべてのゲームにおいて印象的な成熟度でプレーした」

「彼は上達していて、謙虚でリラックスした少年だ。サッカーのために生きているといってもいい。バルサのヤングスターとしてこれほどの例はないよ」

U-24スペイン代表がオリンピックで勝ち進んだ場合、決勝の8月7日まで試合が続く。ペドリの疲労に関してはファンでなくとも心配になるだろう。

「99%の希望を失った」スペインの名医がガビの負傷に言及「劇的な状況になってしまう」、原因は「選手の試合数」
