ユーロ2020決勝、イタリア代表vsイングランド代表が11日にウェンブリーで約6万人のファンを集めて行われ、1-1で120分を終了。PK戦の末、3-2でイタリアが優勝した。初のユーロ優勝を逃したイングランド代表の選手の多くは、そのショックと悔しさからか、表彰式で首にかけられた準優勝メダルをすぐに外していたが、“サッカーの母国”の選手たちの反応には、批判的な声も集まっている。
イギリス『SPORTBIBLE』は、「イタリアとのユーロ2020決勝で敗れた後に準優勝メダルを外したことでファンに非難されたイングランドの選手」との見出しを取り、「イングランドの選手たちがメダルを外した無礼を働いた」「イングランドの選手たちがメダルを外す?これは幼稚だ」「負けた後にメダルを外すという馬鹿げたことは、スポーツでには合わない。(2019年の)ラグビーワールドカップの決勝でも同じことが起こった」など、ファンがツイッターなどSNSで発信した批判的な声を紹介した。
その他にも、「見ていて不愉快だ」「敬意を欠いている」といった声、さらには「イングランドの選手にはメダルを外さないでほしい。(準優勝は)十分大きな成果だと思う」という意見もあった。
選手たちの悔しさも大いに理解できるが、“英国紳士”には似つかわしくない行動だっただろう。ただ、イングランドは若いチームであり、2022年のカタール・ワールドカップに向けてさらに成長することを期待したい。また、イングランドの選手全員がメダルを外していたわけではなく、MFジョーダン・ヘンダーソンらはメダルを外すことなく、立派な姿を見せていた。

「敬意を欠いている」「幼稚だ」イングランドの選手たちが準優勝メダルをすぐ外す様に批判も

ブリッジは“不倫男”テリーを未だに許さず? 自身の近くに引っ越し発覚後、自宅を売却に出す

2020年の東京五輪でイギリス代表が復活か!?
▽2012年のロンドン・オリンピック(五輪)で結成されたチームGB(グレート・ブリテン)だが、再び結成する方向で話を進めているようだ。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』が報じている。 ▽FA(イングランドサッカー協会)は、2020年に行われる東京五輪で、チームGBの結成を考えているとのこと。14日に行われたUEFA(欧州サッカー連盟)の臨時総会でも議論されたようだ。 ▽2012年のロンドンでは、自国開催ということもあって初めて五輪にサッカーチームが出場。チームGBとして参加したが、今年行われたリオ五輪には出場することはなかった。 ▽当時は、4協会が協力することでチームGBを結成する予定だったが、スコットランド、北アイルランドが反対。結局、イングランド、ウェールズの混合チームで臨むこととなった。 ▽ウェールズ、北アイルランド、スコットランドの各協会は、FIFA(国際サッカー連盟)における独立した地位が失われることを危惧していたが、「前FIFA会長のゼップ・ブラッター氏からジャンニ・インファンティノ氏に会長が代わったことで、その心配は無くなった」とFAのマーティン・グレンCEOがコメントした。なお、「問題は各国家の利益だ」ともしており、4協会が協力してチームを結成するには、まだ課題は残されているようだ。 2016.09.15 15:18 Thu
