プレミアリーグは5日、マンチェスター・シティのポルトガル代表DFルベン・ディアスが2020-21シーズンの年間最優秀選手に選ばれたことを発表した。

昨夏に推定6500万ポンド(約100億円)の移籍金でベンフィカから加入したルベン・ディアス。センターバックに対する要求が高いジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督のチームにスムーズに溶け込み、リーグ戦32試合に出場した。

そのうち15試合のクリーンシートを記録し、35回のインターセプト、24回のタックル、23回のブロック、135回のリカバリーに成功。32失点の今季リーグ最少記録に大きく貢献した。
DFが同賞を受賞するのは、ネマニャ・ヴィディッチ(マンチェスター・ユナイテッド)、ヴァンサン・コンパニ(マンチェスター・シティ)、ヴィルヒル・ファン・ダイク(リバプール)に続く史上4人目。また、ポルトガル人選手としては、クリスティアーノ・ロナウド(マンチェスター・ユナイテッド)に次いで2人目の快挙となった。

なお、その他の候補者には昨季受賞者のMFケビン・デ・デブライネ(マンチェスター・シティ)をはじめ、MFブルーノ・フェルナンデス(マンチェスター・ユナイテッド)、MFジャック・グリーリッシュ(アストン・ビラ)、MFトマシュ・ソーチェク(ウェストハム)、MFメイソン・マウント(チェルシー)、FWモハメド・サラー(リバプール)、FWハリー・ケイン(トッテナム)が名を連ねていた。
なお、最優秀監督にはシティをここ4年で3度目の優勝に導いたジョゼップ・グアルディオラ監督が選ばれている。

3冠達成のシティ、来日メンバーを発表! エースのハーランドや新加入コバチッチなど主力が軒並み来日へ

アグエロがシティの歴史に名を刻んだ瞬間、プレミア初優勝を決めた93:20の熱狂
