マンチェスター・シティのファンが、人種差別的虐待の罪で罰金を科されることとなった。イギリス『BBC』が報じた。
事件が起こったのは2019年12月7日。マンチェスター・ユナイテッドとの“マンチェスター・ダービー”でのことだった。
ホームのエティハド・スタジアムで行われた一戦。この試合中にアンソニー・バークさん(42)がユナイテッドの3人の黒人選手に向けて猿真似のジェスチャーと音を立てていることがテレビに映し出されていた。
これは試合の後半、ユナイテッドのブラジル代表MFフレッジがキッカーを務めようと右CKフラッグに歩み寄った際、シティサポーター側のスタンドから差別的な言葉が飛び、物も投げ込まれる事態に。その物の1つがフレッジに直撃していた。
明白な人種差別行為が証拠に残っていたバークさんは、公共秩序違反の罪でテームサイド治安判事裁判所にて有罪判決を受けることに。罰金500ポンド(約7万8000円)が科されることとなった。
なお、試合は1-2でユナイテッドが勝利を収めていた。

アグエロがシティの歴史に名を刻んだ瞬間、プレミア初優勝を決めた93:20の熱狂
