アストン・ビラのFWオリー・ワトキンスがイングランド代表デビュー即ゴールに歓喜した。
2013年にイングランド4部相当のエクセター・シティでプロデビューを果たしたワトキンスは2015年に同6部相当のウェストン・スーパー・メアにレンタル移籍した後、2017年から同2部相当のブレントフォードに。昨季に26ゴールで得点王に輝き、今季からアストン・ビラに活躍の場を移した。
すると、そのアストン・ビラでも大きく飛躍を遂げ、初のプレミアリーグ挑戦ながら、第4節のリバプール戦で初ゴールを含むハットトリックをやってのけるなど、ここまで28試合の出場で10得点3アシストを記録。そして、今月の代表ウィークでイングランド代表の初招集を受けた。
そんなワトキンスは25日に行われたカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)欧州予選グループI第1節のサンマリノ代表戦に63分から出場してデビューを果たすと、83分に初ゴールも記録。試合後、イギリス『ITV』で「アンビリーバブルだね」だと喜びを露わにしている。

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

ブリッジは“不倫男”テリーを未だに許さず? 自身の近くに引っ越し発覚後、自宅を売却に出す
元イングランド代表DFのウェイン・ブリッジ氏は、チェルシー時代に自身の元恋人と不倫関係にあった元イングランド代表DFのジョン・テリー氏を未だに許してないのかもしれない。イギリス『サン』が報じている。 ブリッジ氏とテリー氏は、同じ39歳でチェルシーとイングランド代表で共闘してきた親友だった。しかし、2010年1月にブリッジ氏が当時交際し、1人の息子をもうけていたヴァネッサ・プロンセルと、既婚のテリー氏に不倫疑惑が持ち上がり、両者の関係は完全に破綻。 この騒動がキッカケでテリー氏はイングランド代表キャプテンをはく奪され、ブリッジ氏も“不倫男”との共闘を望まず、代表辞退という重い決断を下していた。 さらに、不倫問題発覚後、初の直接対決となった試合では当時マンチェスター・シティに在籍していたブリッジ氏が、試合前の握手を拒否。さらに、シティのチームメイトだった元アルゼンチン代表FWカルロス・テベスが、得点直後にテリー氏の前に立ちはだかってブリッジ氏を指さすパフォーマンスを見せるなど、大きな話題をさらっていた。 その後、ブリッジ氏は2013年に現在の妻であるイギリス人歌手のフランキーサンド・フォードさんと結婚し、2人の息子を授かっている。 その事件から10年が経った今年に入って両氏は、再びメディアの話題に挙がることに。 『サン』が伝えるところによれば、テリー氏は今年4月にロンドン近郊のサリーに430万ポンド(約6億円)の邸宅を購入し、すでに引っ越しも済ませているという。 そして、その新居から数分の距離にはブリッジ氏と家族が住む550万ポンド(約7億6000万円)の邸宅があった。 しかし、同メディアによると、ブリッジ夫妻はテリー氏の引っ越しが原因かは不明なものの、現在その自宅を売りに出しているという。 この動きに関してある関係者は、「ウェインとジョンは明らかに最高の友人とは言えない。今は不動産市場に不確実性があるが、ウェインとフランキーは新たなスタートを求めている。そして、現在の場所から少し離れた場所に引っ越しをすることを決めた」と、説明している。 今回の引っ越しは単なる偶然の可能性が高そうだが、ブリッジはやはり“不倫男”を許していないのか…。 2020.08.05 15:02 Wed

相手が恐れる右手…ストライカーの完成形と呼ばれた男、アラン・シアラー

2025年最初のFIFAランク、大きく変動も日本は15位をキープ! 2位にスペイン、6位にオランダが浮上【FIFAランキング】
