カタールでの集中開催でも2試合を消化した横浜FM。初戦の上海上港(中国)戦では0-1で勝利したものの、28日の上海上港戦では1-2で敗戦となった。
現在グループ2位の横浜FMにとっては、この全北現代戦は勝利すればグループステージ突破が決定する大事な一戦となる、
試合に先立ち会見に出席したポステコグルー監督は「自分たちの方が、良いチャレンジになる試合だと思う」とコメント。「全北現代も良いチームですし、良い監督がいる中で、国内のKリーグでも本当に良い成績を残しているチーム」とKリーグ1を優勝した全北現代を警戒した。
しかし、全北現代はケガ人を多く抱え、カタールでは1勝1分け1敗の成績。その点については「この大会でも結果という部分でもそうだが、ケガ人が多い中でしっかりやっているというイメージがある」とコメント。地力があると評価した。
全北現代とは、今大会初戦の2月に対戦。アウェイ韓国の地で1-2と勝利している。

「めっちゃチャラい」茶髪にイヤリング…田中隼磨が20年前の“チャラい”お宝写真公開、先輩からはツッコミ「触れただけでキレそうだな」

「Jリーグチップス」が復刻! 「Jリーグの日」特別企画で実現、220種のカードから1枚付き、試合会場で合計3万3000袋配布
Jリーグは14日、5月15日の「Jリーグの日」を記念し、開幕当時に多くのファンに親しまれた「Jリーグチップス」を特別に復刻することを発表した。 1993年の開幕とともに人気を博した「Jリーグチップス(選手カード付)」が、32周年を迎えるJリーグに帰ってくることに。復刻版では、J1、J2、J3の全60クラブから各3名の合計180名に加え、1990年台の黎明期を支えたレジェンド35名、またJリーグ公認番組の特別カードも加えた、全220種のカードを制作している。 特別版の「Jリーグチップス」は、5月17日(土)、18日(日)に行われる試合を対象とし、来場者へ無料配布。配布される「Jリーグチップス」には、220種のカードのうち1枚がついてくることとなる。 また、「Jリーグチップス」の復刻をアピールする特別動画には、1993年のJリーグMVPである三浦知良の伝説的な受賞シーンを活用し、復刻のインパクトを表現。ナレーションは三浦本人が行っている。
