EFLカップ2回戦の16試合が15日に行われ、アストン・ビラは3部のバートンとアウェイで対戦し、3-1で勝利した。

開始2分に失点する苦しい立ち上がりとなったビラは、前半のうちにワトキンスのゴールで同点に持ち込むと、後半終盤に主将のエースが決める。同日、ビラとの契約延長を発表したグリーリッシュが88分に逆転ゴールを挙げた。さらに追加タイムにもダメ押し弾が生まれたビラが逆転で3回戦へ勝ち上がっている。

また、ニューカッスルは2部のブラックバーンとホームで対戦し、新戦力のフレイザーの移籍後初弾で1-0の辛勝。エイバルへの移籍が濃厚となっているFW武藤嘉紀はベンチ入りしなかった。

アストン・ビラがスタジアム改修をスタート、ユーロ2028の会場となり5万人収容に変貌へ

アストン・ビラがザニオーロの買い取りを見送る方針で一致か
