かつてドルトムントやレアル・マドリー、シャルケなどでプレーした元ドイツ代表DFクリストフ・メッツェルダー(39)が、児童ポルノ容疑で罪を認めたようだ。ドイツ『シュピーゲル』が報じた。
報道によると、メッツェルダー氏は、子供などのポルノコンテンツを含む297個の画像ファイルを所持していたとのこと。また、2019年7月から9月の間に、メッセージアプリ『WhatsApp』を使用して、3人の女性に29個の画像やビデオファイルを送信していたとされていた。
メッツェルダーは罪を公表しないでほしいとしていたものの、デュッセルドルフ行政裁判所はメッツェルダーの刑事訴訟についての情報をマスコミに提供。罪が公になっていた。
全ての罪を認めたのか一部を認めたのかは明らかにされていないものの、メッツェルダーの訴えが認められなかったのは、個人の保護と報道の自由のバランスを考えた際、公的な利益が私益よりも優先されるべきとの判断が下され、罪が公表されることになったようだ。
裁判所は、元プロサッカー選手であり、ドイツ国民にも知られた存在であること、そして引退後もエージェンシーの設立やコーチとしての活動、さらには2006年の障害者ワールドカップの大使を務めたことも含め、責任のある立場だと判断したようだ。
