2017年夏にパリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)からユベントスに加入したマテュイディ。加入初年度からレギュラーに定着すると、ウェールズ代表MFアーロン・ラムジーやフランス代表MFアドリアン・ラビオが加入した今シーズンも公式戦30試合に出場し、縁の下の力持ちとして、チームを支えている。
そんなマテュイディだが、ユベントスとの現行契約は今シーズンまで。今夏にはフリーとなる状況でリヨンのジャン=ミシェル・オラス会長が獲得を熱望していることを明らかにしたが、フランス代表MFは『Sport24』でユベントスと契約延長したことを明かした。
「僕の契約には1年間の契約延長オプションがついていた。ユベントスがそれを行使した。僕は契約延長について疑うことは決してなかったよ。だって、みんなの信頼を感じているからね」
