チェルシーに所属するFWタミー・エイブラハムにイングランド代表への招集の可能性が出てきた。イギリス『テレグラフ』が伝えている。

チェルシーのアカデミー出身で2016年5月にトップチームデビューを飾ったエイブラハム。その後はブリストル・シティやスウォンジー・シティ、アストン・ビラにレンタル移籍し、経験値を積んだ。

すると今シーズンはチームに留まり、フランク・ランパード新監督の下、チェルシーで出場機会が与えられると、プレミアリーグではここまで5試合7ゴールと飛躍を予感される好スタート。マンチェスター・シティのアルゼンチン代表FWセルヒオ・アグエロと並んで得点ランクトップタイに位置している。

そのエイブラハムに10月のユーロ2020予選でイングランド代表に招集される可能性が出てきているという。同国代表率いるガレス・サウスゲイト監督のアシスタントコーチであるスティーブ・ホランド氏は、17日に行われるチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)・グループH第1節のバレンシア戦にエイブラハムを目当てに視察に訪れるようだ。

だが、一方でナイジェリア代表を選択する噂も浮上している。ナイジェリア人の父を持つエイブラハムは、2017年にイングランド代表デビューを飾り、これまで2試合に出場。だが、どちらも親善試合であったことから、現在、ナイジェリア代表に切り替えることが可能な状況だ。

ナイジェリアサッカー連盟(NFF)もエイブラハムの同国代表招集に向けて働きかけているようだが、エイブラハムはどちらの国を背負って戦うことを選ぶのだろうか。

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」
