エジルがトルコ大統領と会食…露W杯前後に物議を醸したあの問題が再加熱か

アーセナルの元ドイツ代表MFメスト・エジルが、トルコのレジェップ・タイイップ・エルドアン大統領と会食をしていたことが分かった。イギリス『デイリー・メール』が伝えている。

両者の関係は、昨年のロシア・ワールドカップ開幕前の5月に、エジルと同胞のMFイルカイ・ギュンドアンとともにロンドンで今回のように会食をしたことで話題となった。

トルコ系ドイツ人であるエジルとギュンドアンは当時の写真をSNSにアップしたことで、人権問題などで非難されるエルドアン政権を支持しているとメディアや周りの人々に批判された。ギュンドアンはすぐに釈明したものの、エジルはワールドカップ中も沈黙を続け、批判が集中。

大会後、DFB(ドイツサッカー連盟)のラインハルト・グリンデル会長は、ドイツ代表が同大会で1勝2敗でグループステージ敗退という結果もあったことから、エジルがギュンドアンのように直ちに釈明したなかったことに苦言を呈した。

するとエジルは自身のツイッターで今回の騒動について言及。エルドアン大統領と写真を撮ったことに「政治的意図はない」としながら、その件でメディアやファン、さらにはDFBから人種差別的発言を受けたと主張し、ドイツ代表から引退するまでに至った。

そんな背景がありながら、エジルはアミネ・ギュルシェ夫人とともにエルドアン大統領と会食を行ったようだ。エジルと夫人は3月にもエルドアン大統領と面会していたようで、その時は今年6月に予定されている結婚式の招待状を手渡したのだという。

だがそれにも、ここ数年でトルコと人権問題で対立しているドイツ国内からは批判があったとされるエジル。今回の会食も物議を醸しそうだ。

“社長”フラミニが新プロジェクト立ち上げ、相棒は元同僚エジル

元バルサGKブラーボ、テア=シュテーゲンとの定位置争いを回想「共存不可と断定されたが…」
