考えたくはないが…バルサ会長「メッシの引退に備えなければ」

バルセロナのジョゼップ・マリア・バルトメウ会長が、稀代のクラッキの引退について考え始めていることを明かした。イギリス『BBC』で語られた内容を、スペイン『マルカ』が伝えている。

2021年にバルセロナでの任期が満了を迎えるバルトメウ会長。既にビクトル・フォント氏などの新会長候補も出始めており、2014年から続いた政権に区切りを付けようとしている。

最近のバルセロナは、今夏の加入が決定しているアヤックスMFフレンキー・デ・ヨングや、MFアルトゥール、DFジャン=クレール・トディボを筆頭として、若返りを意識した補強を敢行。MFリキ・プイグやMFカルレス・アレーニャなど、有望なカンテラーノを積極的に引き上げる姿勢も見せており、新たなサイクルのスタートを感じさせている。

そして、それは次の会長の政権を後押しするためのものだったようだ。それと同時に、圧倒的なエースとして君臨するアルゼンチン代表FWリオネル・メッシ(31)の引退についても、検討する時期に差し掛かっているという。バルトメウ会長が以下のように語った。

「いつの日か彼が引退を口にすることは分かっている。私たちはその日のために準備しなくてはならない」

「私の任期はあと2シーズンで終わる。素晴らしい形でクラブを去り、新会長に『これが私たちの遺産だ』と伝える必要がある」

2004年のトップチーム昇格から、クラブレベルでのフットボール界で獲得できるものを全て手にしてきたメッシ。公式戦通算では665試合581ゴール233アシストと比類無き成績を残している。バルセロナだけではなく現代のサッカー界の至宝とも呼ぶべき人物が見られる時間も、そう長くはないかもしれない。

メッシ大好きなマテ茶のストローは7万円超えの特別仕様

メッシと妻は30年来の仲、幼馴染の2人が結ばれW杯で優勝するまで

「妻が決めること」引退から一転、バルサの窮地救い2冠目前のGKシュチェスニーが契約延長のオファーに言及
