クロアチアのズラトコ・ダリッチ監督は、次節で対戦するアルゼンチン相手にも自分たちのスタイルを変えることはないと語った。

クロアチアは16日、ロシア・ワールドカップのグループリーグ初戦でナイジェリアと対戦。2-0で勝利し、最高のスタートを切った。一方、21日に対戦を控えるアルゼンチンは、アイスランド相手にまさかの1-1の引き分けに終わった。

それでもバルセロナFWリオネル・メッシを擁し、今大会の優勝候補であるアルゼンチンだが、クロアチアの指揮官は真っ向勝負を挑む考えを明かした。

「すべての対戦を相手を尊敬している。アルゼンチンは特にだ。しかし彼らに合わせることはしない」

「アルゼンチンと対戦するとき、多少の調整は加えるが、勝ち点を計算するようなことはしない。我々のサッカーをする。抽選の後にも言ったが、アルゼンチン戦が最も簡単な試合になると思う。世界最高のチームと対戦するのは楽しいに違いない」

そして、W杯初戦を無事に勝利で終えたクロアチアだが、気持ちはすでに次節のアルゼンチン戦に切り替えていると語った。

「最高のプレーをする必要があるし、アルゼンチンを最大限分析をした。ナイジェリア戦はもう終わった。アルゼンチンをリスペクトしてはいるが、自分たちのスタイル貫くだけだ」
