コンフェデ杯は、1992年にキング・ファハド・カップとして誕生。当時のアジアカップ王者サウジアラビアが南米王者、北中米カリブ海王者、アフリカ王者と対戦する大会を運営した。1997年の第3回大会からはFIFAが運営し、現在の名称に変更。その後にはワールドカップ(W杯)優勝国にも出場権が与えられるようになった。
次のコンフェデ杯は、2018年W杯開催地であるロシアで来年6月17日から7月2日まで開催される。ドイツは前回W杯王者として出場権を獲得。だが、代表選手が毎年の夏に国際大会に臨むことに対し、クラブ側からは不満の声も上がっている。

元ブラジル代表DFルシオ氏が家庭内の事故で緊急入院…現在はICUで経過観察
元ブラジル代表DFルシオ氏(47)がブラジリア市内の病院に入院しており、集中治療室(ICU)で治療を受けているようだ。 イタリア『ガゼッタ・デッロ・スポルト』によれば、ルシオ氏は15日に自宅で起きた事故により、体の様々な部分に火傷を負ったとのこと。 なお、入院先の病院は｢ルシオ氏の容体は安定していて意識もはっきりしている。しばらくはICUで経過を観察する｣との声明を発表している。 ブラジル代表として通算105キャップを誇るルシオ氏は、1998年にインテルナシオナウでプロデビュー後、2000年1月にレバークーゼン移籍。2004年夏に加入したバイエルンで4度のブンデスリーガ制覇を経験すると、2009年夏からインテルに移り、2009-10シーズンの3冠(セリエA、コッパ・イタリア、チャンピオンズリーグ)達成に寄与した。 その後、2012年夏のユベントス移籍を経て、2013年1月のサンパウロ入りを機に母国復帰。インドで過ごす時期もあったが、ブラジル国内を中心にプレーを続け、2019年10月にブラジリエンセFCを退団以降はフリーの状態が続き、2020年1月に現役引退を発表していた。 2025.05.17 20:50 Sat
