アストン・ビラのチームバスが、バーンリー戦後に襲撃を受ける事件が発生した。イギリス『BBC』が伝えている。
アストン・ビラは27日、敵地ターフ・ムーアで行われたプレミアリーグ第3節でバーンリーと対戦。DFマティ・キャッシュの2ゴールとFWムサ・ディアビのゴールによって3-1で快勝。今シーズン初の連勝を飾った。
しかし、試合終了後にスタジアムから約2マイル離れたM65ジャンクション10を走行中のチームバスに投擲が行われ、フロントガラスを含む車体が損傷する事件が発生。ただ、幸いにもアストン・ビラのチーム関係者に負傷者はいなかったという。
今回の事件発生を受け、試合主催クラブのバーンリーは公式SNSを通じて以下の声明を発表。今回の犯罪行為を強く非難すると共に、地元警察の犯人捜しに全面的に協力する旨を報告した。
