リオ・ファーディナンド氏が、ドルトムントのFWジェイドン・サンチョなどの才能を持った若手を起用しないイングランド代表のサウスゲイト監督に対して疑問を持っていることをYouTubeチャンネル『Five』で明かした。

イングランド代表は18日、ユーロ2020のグループD第2節でスコットランド代表と対戦して0-0の引き分けに終わっている。1-0で勝利した第1節のクロアチア戦と同様に、ベンチメンバーをフル活用しなかったことをファーディナンド氏は非難している。

「ベンチワークが悪いと思う。今大会は5人を交代させられるのにもかかわらず、2人しか交代させなかった。ベンチは何のためにあるんだ」
また、2試合連続でサンチョをピッチに送り出さなかったことに対しても、同代表のレジェンドは理解ができないと苦言を呈している。

「サンチョは一体どうしたんだ? 彼は裏で何かしたに違いない」
「彼はここ3シーズン、イングランド代表の中で(ラヒーム・)スターリングとハリー・ケインに次いで3番目に多くゴールに関与している」

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

トゥヘル新体制のイングランド代表が発表! 売り出し中のルイス=スケリー、32歳のバーンが初招集…ラッシュフォードやヘンダーソンが復帰【2026年W杯欧州予選】
