ベッカム氏の次男ロメオが2度目の現役引退…今度は母ヴィクトリアさんと同じ道へ

ブレントフォードは4日、ウォルバーハンプトンからアイルランド代表DFネイサン・コリンズ(22)を完全移籍で獲得したことを発表した。契約期間は2029年6月30日までの6年となるが、クラブ側はさらに2年の延長オプションを保有することになる。 なお、移籍金への言及はないが、イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』は2300万ポンド(約42億1000万円)と報じている。 トーマス・フランク監督は、「非常に才能のあるセンターバック」と逸材確保に満足感を示している。 「ネイサンと契約できてとても嬉しいよ。彼は非常に才能のあるセンターバックであり、まだ若い」 「非常に優れた能力を多く持っており、我々はそれを高く評価している。彼は落ち着いていて冷静なディフェンダーだ。両方のボックスでの彼のヘディングは、オープンプレーとセットプレーの両方で大きな武器であり、プレミアリーグでは非常に重要だ」 「彼のボールに対する能力も気に入っている。彼はディフェンスの外にボールを運ぶことができ、ビルドアッププレー中に適切なパスを見つける冷静さも持っている」 「彼の人柄も本当に素晴らしく、我々はその人柄がすべてであることを知っている。我々の文化に溶け込んでくれるはずだし、私はそれについて何の疑いもない。個人的にはネイサンにリーダーの可能性を感じている。彼は完璧なブレントフォードのプレーヤーであり、貪欲で野心的で学びたいという意欲を持っている」 母国のクラブであるチェリー・オーチャードからストーク・シティの下部組織に移籍したコリンズは、2019年にファーストチームデビュー。その後、2021年にバーンリーでプレミアリーグへのステップアップを果たすも、チームのチャンピオンシップ(イングランド2部)降格に伴い、わずか1年でウルブスへ活躍の場を移した。 その新天地では公式戦31試合に出場。だが、フレン・ロペテギ新監督の就任以降は徐々に序列が下がり、後半戦はベンチを温める機会も増えていた。 ただ、193cmの恵まれた体躯と高いアスリート能力を生かした圧倒的な対人能力に加え、ストーク時代に最年少でのゲームキャプテンを務めるなどリーダーシップと統率力にも優れるアイルランド代表DFは、プレミアリーグにおいて依然として屈指の若手センターバックとの評価が集まっている。 なお、コリンズは今回のブレントフォード移籍によって3シーズン連続での完全移籍となる見込みだ。 2023.07.04 22:09 Tue
