スターリングは11日に代表合流した際、食堂にいたリバプールのDFジョー・ゴメスと一悶着。代表ウィーク直前に行われたプレミアリーグ第12節のゲームでのやり合いが今回の一件に何らかの形で繋がっているとみられるなか、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)はスターリングに関して、14日にホームで行われるユーロ2020予選のモンテネグロ代表戦に向けたメンバーからの除外を決めた。
騒動の渦中にいるスターリングはその一件後、自身のインスタグラム(sterling7)を更新。次のように綴っている。
「まず最初に、誰しもが僕にとって、あのゲーム(リバプール戦)にどんな意味があるのかわかってくれていると思う」

イギリス長者番付が発表! アスリートで1位はベッカム氏の記録を更新

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

フランスW杯の戦犯が…ベッカム史上最高のFKから20年「特別な瞬間だった」

FIFA公式がロシアW杯ベストイレブンを発表! ヤングやパウリーニョら“クセがすごい”選出も…
