今大会の開催地はイングランド。決勝は、その開催国イングランド女子代表と、最多8度の優勝を誇るドイツ女子代表のカードとなった。

大会6連覇も達成しているドイツに、初優勝を懸けて戦う開催国イングランド。2009年の決勝で対戦した時は6-2でドイツが圧勝しており、イングランドとしてはリベンジの大会となる。

そんな中、男子のイングランド代表のレジェンドであり、現在はインテル・マイアミのオーナーを務めるベッカム氏が、自身のインスタグラムに動画を投稿。「ライオネス(イングランド女子代表の愛称)」にエールを送った。

その動画とは、PKを蹴る女性の足元が映ったもの。助走から見事にゴールを決めたが、それは娘のハーパー・セブンさんだった。

ベッカムは「ギリギリのところ、最後のライオネシーズのFKです。シュート、ゴール!」と実況をつけてしまうほど。ゴールが決まった後は、「幸運を祈るだけです。国中に刺激を与えてくれてありがとう。カップを持ち帰ろう」と激励。テキストでも「笑顔で待ってます!頑張って、ライオネス!観るのが待ちきれない」とエールを送った。また、ベッカム氏の娘の溺愛ぶりも改めて確認できる映像となっている。
