「目標はラッシュフォード」ブレーメン加入の佐藤恵允、「明治発、世界へ!」を体現した栗田監督との師弟の絆「夢に何が一番近いのかを考えた」
「明治発、世界へ!」をスローガンに掲げている明治大学体育会サッカー部。栗田大輔監督が掲げるこの言葉だが、見事に体現したのがMF佐藤恵允(22)だ。 18日、ブレーメンへの入団が発表され、明治大学から直接ブンデスリーガのクラブへと選手が入団するのは初のこととなる。 佐藤は8月からの入団となり、サッカー部は途中退部の扱いに。20日に行われた記者会見では、栗田監督からも7月31日の退部、また大学には籍を置き、2024年3月の卒業を目指すことも発表された。 実践学園高校から明治大学に入学した佐藤だが、当時は無名の選手。栗田監督は「大学に入った当初は高いレベルのサッカーでのプレー選択などはよくわかっていなかったなという印象」と語り、あまりレベルは高くなかったと感じたようだ。ただ、徐々に成長を見せ、2年時には世代別の日本代表に選出。現在は、10番を背負い、副キャプテンを務め、パリ・オリンピック代表候補としてもプレー。「関東1部リーグや代表で自信を深めることで、推進力やハードワークという部分が生かされていったのかなと思っています」と、年々成長が見えたと語った。 多くのJリーガーを輩出している明治大学だが、途中退部しプロ入りしたのは佐藤で3人目。過去には、長友佑都(FC東京)、室屋成(ハノーファー)の両名がおり、どちらもFC東京に加入したサイドバックだった。ただ、Jリーグを経由せずにヨーロッパにいきなり挑戦したのは初めてのケースだ。 過去には、MF長澤和輝(名古屋グランパス)が専修大学卒業後にケルンに入団。ただ、当時ケルンはドイツ2部に所属していた。また、DF小池裕太(横浜F・マリノス)は流通経済大学からベルギー1部のシント=トロイデンに入団。サッカー部を途中で退団し夏に加入したが、半年で鹿島アントラーズへと期限付き移籍し、ヨーロッパでのプレーを終えていた。 高校卒業後にそのままヨーロッパのクラブに加入した例であれば、FW宮市亮(横浜F・マリノス)のアーセナルや最近ではFW福田師王がボルシアMGへと移籍。ただ、ファーストチームでいきなりプレーはしていない。大学から5大リーグのファーストチームにいきなり加入するのは初めてのことと言える。 そして、この加入を後押ししたのは、栗田監督だったと佐藤が明かした。「自分としては1月まで明治でプレーして、そこから海外に渡るということを伝えましたが、栗田さんから背中を押していただいて、『この半年でチャンスを掴んでこい』と言われて、この8月での加入の思いが決まりました」とコメント。ヨーロッパのシーズンが始まるタイミングでの移籍が良いと判断できたようだ。 栗田監督は「むこうとコミュニケーションをとり、懐に入り、環境に馴染まなければいけない。この半年はとても大きいのではないか」と佐藤に伝えたという。そして「数試合をやった中で、半年の間に1部に上がれるかもしれない」と伝え、8月の加入を後押ししたとのこと。恩師として、教え子の夢を叶えるための最善の道を選択させた形となった。 ブレーメンの発表ではU-23チームに合流するとなっていたが、能力を見せれば、すぐにファーストチームにあげることとなり、佐藤を含めた数選手をチームは常に見て、引き上げるというプランがあるようだ。 佐藤は今回の挑戦について「今回のブレーメンの加入についても、自分の夢に何が一番近いのかを考えた時に、ドイツ1部で出ることが一番早いと思いました」とコメント。「最初はU-23でのスタートになりますが、今年からファーストチームの練習に参加して、ブンデスリーガ1部にも出場して、ヴェルダー・ブレーメンの中心選手になれる活躍をしたいと強く思っています」と、すぐにでもドイツ1部でプレーする気概を見せた。 佐藤が掲げている夢とは「ヨーロッパで活躍して、日本代表になってワールドカップ(W杯)に出る」ことだという。2024年にはパリ・オリンピックがあり、2026年には北中米W杯がある。出場するとなれば、佐藤は25歳。決して若くはなく、3年後のW杯出場が最短ルートとなる。 その佐藤をヨーロッパに送り出すと決めた栗田監督だが、ヨーロッパでプレーすることに向いた選手だと感じているようだ。 「サッカー面では攻守にわたるハードワーク、突破力、推進力、ゴールに向かう突き進むプレーが特徴ですが、海外に挑戦するにあたり、向いているなというのが最初の印象です」 「パッションがあること、コミュニケーションスキルが高く、英語が堪能で、向こうの監督やコーチも英語を話す。戦術の指示も英語でコミュニケーションが取れる。日本人選手はコミュニケーションが弊害となっていましたが、そこは問題ないというところ」 「壁があればすぐに吸収し、目の前のチャンスを掴む何かを持っている選手だと思っています。壁が高ければ高いほど掴めば良いし、切り拓けば良い。それが実現できるタイプだと思うので、臆することなくドイツで暴れて欲しいですし、夢に向かって突き進んで欲しいと思います」 最短距離で夢を叶えるためには、チャンスを掴むという能力は非常に重要となる。決して多くは訪れないチャンスを掴める選手がトップに上がり、そうでない選手は埋もれていくのサッカー界だ。日本代表に選ばれる選手も限られ、ヨーロッパのトップリーグでプレーできる選手も限られる。その点で、佐藤が持つチャンスを掴む力は重要となる。 佐藤も「監督も言われたように、チャンスを掴む力が少なからずあると思うので、日々の取り組みで自信をつけて、大舞台になった時にチャンスを掴めるか。これからの人生において一番大事な力になると思うので、そこを意識して、ドイツで貪欲にやってきたいと思います」と意気込みを語った。その言葉通りのキャリアを歩むことが期待される。 その佐藤だが、目標とする選手がいるという。「目標としている選手は今マンチェスター・ユナイテッドにいるマーカス・ラッシュフォード選手です」とコメント。理由については「1人で攻撃を完結できる力、1人で相手を打開できる力というのが、自分もそういうところを強みとしています。ただ、2段階も3段階も高いレベルにいるのがラッシュフォード選手なので、目標としています」と、イングランド代表で活躍し、ユナイテッドの中心選手でもあるラッシュフォードのようになりたいと語った。 テクニックを駆使してプレーするタイプではない佐藤だが、フィジカル能力に優れ、身体能力の高さはこの世代でも随一。そして、それはブンデスリーガでプレーする上では非常に向いていると言える。 「ブンデスリーガのイメージは規律のある守備、チームで統一された洗練された攻守がすごく特徴で気だと思います。それに加えて、インテンシティの高さ、切り替えの速さをそれぞれの選手がしていると思います」 「自分もハードワーク、切り替えの速さ、運動量は明治大学で培ってきたものがドイツでは凄く試されると思うので、よりレベルアップして、活躍するというイメージがあります」 しっかりと自身の将来像を見据えられている佐藤。明治大学で鍛えられた人間性を武器に、ドイツで輝くことができるのか。日本代表の先輩たちも多くプレーし、日本人にとっては登竜門的なリーグでもある。「強みというのも、海外から見たらまだまだ強みではないと思うので、ここからより成長して、もう1段階、2段階上がって、大きな選手になって夢を掴めるようになれればと思います」と語るように、自分にベクトルを向けて大きく羽ばたけるのか、また注目せざるを得ない選手が1人海を渡る。 《超ワールドサッカー編集部・菅野剛史》 2023.07.21 21:40 Fri

Jリーグが理念強化配分金とファン指標配分金の支給額を発表! 「DAZN」ベースのファン指標分配金の1位は浦和、最下位はYSCCに…連覇神戸は5.5億円

「めっちゃチャラい」茶髪にイヤリング…田中隼磨が20年前の“チャラい”お宝写真公開、先輩からはツッコミ「触れただけでキレそうだな」
