「アルコールを甘く見ていた」飲酒運転&児童虐待で逮捕の元アメリカ女子代表GKが苦悩を明かす

元アメリカ女子代表の正守護神だったホープ・ソロ(40)が、飲酒運転で逮捕されていたが、有罪を認めた。

かつてはアメリカ代表として活躍。その美貌にも注目が集まり、モデルを務めるなどした人気選手だった。

アメリカ女子代表として2000年から2016年までプレーし、202試合に出場。北京オリンピック、ロンドン・オリンピックでは金メダル獲得に貢献した。

しかし、引退後は問題行動が度々見られ、2014年にシアトル近郊の自宅で親戚2人を襲撃したとして、家庭内暴力の容疑で逮捕。これは後に無罪となっていた。

今年3月には、飲酒運転で逮捕され、車内で双子の息子と意識を失っているところを見つけられ逮捕。児童虐待の容疑もかけられていた。

有罪となったソロは執行猶予付きの懲役24カ月の判決を受け、30日間の活動期間はアルコール依存症の治療のために入院していた期間と相殺されるとのことだ。

イギリス『BBC』は、ソロのコメントを紹介。アルコールにより人生が壊れたと後悔していることを口にしている。

「長い道のりだったけど、少しずつ回復しているわ」

「私は母であることに誇りを持っているし、夫と2歳の双子を抱え、パンデミックの間2年以上にわたって日々過ごしてきた」

「私は誇りに思っているけど、それは信じられないほどに困難であり、大きな間違いを犯してしまったわ」

「アルコールが私の人生で、どれほど破壊的な要素になっているかを甘く見ていたの」

「このように大きな過ちを犯すと、厳しい教訓を早く学ぶことができる。この教訓を学ぶことは難しく、時にはとても苦痛だったわ」

なお、ソロは飲酒運転、逮捕への抵抗、軽度の児童虐待の罪で起訴されたものの、飲酒運転以外は却下されたという。

アメリカサッカー殿堂にも入るほどの選手。4月下旬に延期の要請を出していたが、更生してもらいたいものだ。

悲劇…W杯でのイラン代表の敗戦を喜んだ27歳の男性が国内で射殺

女子選手の意見を参考に配慮し白パンツを中止、ナイキが女子W杯出場13カ国の新ユニフォームを発表!

「腰抜け」発言のアメリカ女子代表GKホープ・ソロが6カ月の謹慎処分

▽アメリカサッカー連盟(USSF)は25日、アメリカ女子代表GKホープ・ソロ(35)に対し、6カ月の謹慎処分を下したことを発表した。 ▽2005年からアメリカ女子代表の正守護神として活躍していたソロは、2008年の北京オリンピック、2012年のロンドン・オリンピックで金メダル獲得に貢献。2015年の女子ワールドカップではアメリカ代表の優勝に貢献していた。 ▽オリンピックで女子サッカーが競技に採用されてから5大会連続でメダルを獲得(金メダル4個、銀メダル1個)してきたアメリカだったが、リオ・デジャネイロオリンピックでは準々決勝のスウェーデン戦でPK戦の末に敗戦。大会4連覇だけでなく、メダル獲得も逃していた。 ▽試合後にソロはスウェーデンの戦い方に苦言を呈し「腰抜けの集まりだった。より優れていたチームが勝てなかったと思う。スウェーデンが勝ち進めるとは思えない」とコメント。しかし、このコメントが処分の対象となった。 ▽USSFのスニル・グラティ会長はホープ・ソロの処分について声明を発表。受け入れがたいとし、処分を与える決定を下したことを明かした。「オリンピック時のスウェーデン戦後のホープ・ソロのコメントは、受け入れられるものではなく、代表チームの選手に必要な行動基準を満たしてしません」「競技場内の結果だけでなく、オリンピックはフェアプレーと敬愛の念を表すものです。我々は、例外なく、我々の代表選手たちがこの原則を尊重することを期待しています」「過去にソロが関わった事件を考慮し、アメリカ代表メンバーに適した振る舞いを彼女に要求していた中で、プライベートな会話と同様に、今回の懲戒処分が適切であると決定しました」 ▽6カ月の謹慎処分を受けた35歳のソロは、今回の処分により2017年2月までアメリカ女子代表としてプレーできないこととなる。なお、「腰抜けの集まり」と言われたスウェーデンは決勝まで進出。ドイツ女子代表に敗れたものの、銀メダルを獲得していた。 2016.08.26 10:30 Fri
