爆発的なスピードを武器とするバイエルンのカナダ代表DFアルフォンソ・デイビスが、その武器を遺憾なく発揮した。

デイビス擁するカナダは13日、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)北中米カリブ海予選でパナマ代表と対戦。デイビスはFWで起用された。

すると1-1の同点で迎えた66分、自陣ボックス内でボールを奪ったカナダがカウンターを発動するも、パスがずれてしまい相手陣内の右サイドに転々と転がる。

タッチラインを割ると思い、両軍の選手がスピードを緩める中、カナダ陣内にいたデイビスが猛然とダッシュ。直前で気が付いたパナマのDFハロルド・カミングスが体を入れようとするも、寸前のところでデイビスがかっさらう。

一気にゴールチャンスとなると、そのままボックス内に侵入したデイビスが対峙したDFをかわし、ゴールネットへグラウンダーのシュートを突き刺した。理不尽とも言えるスピードを武器に奪ったゴールには、ファンから「風のよう」「非現実的だ」「油断できない」「速すぎる」と称賛が集まった。

試合はこのゴールで勢いに乗ったカナダが得点を重ね、終わってみれば4-1の大勝。グループ3位に浮上した。

バイエルンでは左サイドバックとして起用されるデイビスだが、カナダでは前線で起用されることが多く、ここまで代表通算25試合10ゴールをマークしている。

1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。アストン・ビラでは2シーズンでFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)で43試合に出場し7ゴール。スイス代表としても38キャップを記録している。 「意味が分からない」カナダ代表の新ユニフォームはナイキのロゴが目立ちすぎ?他国と異なる仕様に「本当にがっかり」「冗談だろ?」

カナダ代表は新ユニフォームを手にできず…選手がゴールパフォーマンスでナイキに抗議!
