元フランス代表FWのティエリ・アンリ氏が、2010年の南アフリカ・ワールドカップ(W杯)の出場権をかけて戦ったアイルランドとの予選プレーオフでのゴールについて改めて言及した。イギリス『サン』が伝えている。
2009年11月、フランス代表は欧州予選のプレーオフでアイルランドと対戦。第1戦を1-0で制していたフランスは、第2戦を延長戦の末に1-1で引き分け、本大会進出を決めていた。
しかし、第2戦でのフランスのゴールは、アンリ氏が明らかなハンドを犯した末での得点だったため、大きな騒動へと発展していた。
後に意図的ではないながらもハンドだったと認めたアンリ氏だったが、改めて当時について回顧。その後の生活に与えた影響も明かした。
「あのゴールは誇れないものだ。アイルランドのファンから攻撃を受けることはある」
「私はダーティな選手ではないが、悪い本能や反射で行動した時、それを説明するのは難しい。なぜそうなったか説明できない。それがことを難しくしている」
「だが、その後に私は手紙を受け、殺害予告を受けた。『俺たちはお前がどこに住んでいるか知っている』とあったので私は恐れ、2週間娘をボディーガードと登校させた」

誤審でW杯出場の夢を断たれたアイルランドの関係者の無念は想像を絶するが、アンリ氏も大変な思いをしていたようだ。

カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)でアルゼンチン代表にトロフィーをもたらせたGKエミリアーノ・マルティネスが、その思い出を足に刻んだ。
18日に行われたW杯決勝でフランス代表と対戦したアルゼンチン。守護神であるマルティネスは、大会を通じて高パフォーマンスを見せていた中、決勝でもビッグセーブを見せる。
試合はキリアン・ムバッペにハットトリックを許したが、PK戦では見事なセーブを見せて優勝に貢献。その後の行動は大きな批判を浴びているが、優勝に貢献したことは間違いない。
特に、延長後半の絶体絶命のピンチを救った姿は多くの人の記憶に残っているのではないだろうか。アディショナルタイム3分、ラストプレーとも言える場面で、アバウトなボールがディフェンスラインの裏に抜けると、完全にフリーで抜けたランダル・コロ・ムアニがボックス内で余裕を持ってシュート。マルティネスは、相手のシュートに反応して足を伸ばすと、左足一本でセーブしてみせた。
決まっていてもおかしくない場面、ラストプレーでのビッグセーブとなったが、その左足にマルティネスはW杯トロフィーをのタトゥーを刻んだ。
3つの星とともにトロフィーを刻んだマルティネス。ファンは「この足が助けた」、「史上最高のアルゼンチン人GK」、「史上最高のセーブ」、「神の脚だ」、「彼のプレーは尊重しないと」と、トロフィーをもたらせた“神の脚”への感謝の言葉が並べられた。
一方で、タトゥーのクオリティについて物議が。「十分なお金があるはずなのになぜ安いアーティストに頼むのか」、「もっと完璧にできるアーティストはいる」と、よりクオリティの高いタトゥーを入れないことへの疑問が並べられた。
さらに、写真ではマルティネスの右足の指が4本しか見えず、人差し指が欠損しているようにも見える。実際は小指が短くサンダルで隠れているだけなのだが、「彼は指がない?」、「指はどこに行った?」と心配する声も相次いでいる。

データおよびテクノロジーにおけるリーディングカンパニーの「ニールセン・グレースノート」が、オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)に出場する選手のインフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表した。
なでしこジャパンも出場する女子W杯。開幕までおよそ1カ月となった中で、各国の出場選手も決定している。
「ニールセン・グレースノート」は出場する選手の中での、インフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表。フォロワーやフォロワーの増加、エンゲージメント率など、インスタグラム上の投稿ごとの平均ブランド価値を評価してランキングを発表した。
トップ10が発表され、実に9カ国の選手がランクイン。アメリカ女子代表のみが唯一2選手がランクインしている。
1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。
アストン・ビラでは2シーズンでFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)で43試合に出場し7ゴール。スイス代表としても38キャップを記録している。
2位には、バルセロナのエースでありスペイン女子代表のエースでもあるMFアレクシア・プテジャス。フォロワーは280万人であり、1位のレーマンがどれほどのフォロワーを抱えているかがわかる。
2シーズン連続でUEFA年間最優秀女子選手、バロンドールを受賞。2021年にはFIFA最優秀女子選手賞を受賞している。

▽国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)は17日、ロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)のチーム・オブ・ザ・トーナメント(ベストイレブン)を発表した。
▽6月14日から7月15日までの約1カ月間に渡って開催されていたロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)は、フランスの20年ぶり2度目の優勝で幕を閉じた。大会を通じて多くの選手が輝いた中、FIFAは今大会のベストイレブンを選出した。
▽[4-2-3-1]の布陣が採用された中、GKにはフランス代表キャプテンのGKウーゴ・ロリスがベルギー代表GKティボー・クルトワ、イングランド代表GKジョーダン・ピックフォードらを抑えて選出された。
▽最終ラインでは今大会最多のチャンスクリエイトを見せたイングランド代表DFキーラン・トリッピアー、決勝に進出したフランスとクロアチアのディフェンスリーダーのDFラファエル・ヴァラン、DFデヤン・ロブレンが選出。さらに、サプライズとなったのがイングランド代表MFアシュリー・ヤングが左サイドバックで選出されたことだった。

▽通常、こういったベストイレブンなどの各賞の選出には多くの異論が出るものだが、今回に関してはロリス、パウリーニョ、ネイマール、ヤングの選出に批判が集まっている。大会最優秀GKのクルトワを抑えての選出となったロリスに関しては決勝戦の信じがたいミスがなければ、優勝チームのキャプテンという事情もあり選出に異論が出ることはなかったかもしれない。
▽その一方で、フランス代表MFエンゴロ・カンテや同MFポール・ポグバ、クロアチア代表MFイバン・ラキティッチ、同FWイバン・ペリシッチ、ベルギー代表MFケビン・デ・ブライネを抑えてパウリーニョ、ネイマールが選出されたのも解せないところだ。
▽それ以上にサプライズとなったのは今大会を通じてセットプレーのキッカーとしてまずまずの存在感を見せたものの、流れの中ではさほど目立たなかったヤングの選出だ。左サイドバックに関してはフランスの優勝に貢献したDFリュカ・エルナンデスやブラジル代表DFマルセロらもいただけに、“クセがすごい”選出と言わざるを得ないだろう。

同じ血を引いているだけあって、その才能は本物かもしれない。
パリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)のフランス代表FWキリアン・ムバッペの弟であるエタン・ムバッペが、名門育成組織入学に近づいているようだ。フランス『レキップ』が報じた。
ムバッペの弟であるエタンは、現在13歳。兄と同じPSGでトレーニングを受けている。そして現在は、フランスの名門育成組織である「クレールフォンテーヌ国立フットボール養成所」の入学試験を受けている状況だ。
クレールフォンテーヌは、フランスの国立養成所で、13歳〜15歳の2年制。兄のキリアンもクレールフォンテーヌの出身。かつては、ティエリ・アンリやニコラ・アネルカ、現役ではブレーズ・マテュイディ(ユベントス)らも出身。1期生には、2016年、2017年と横浜F・マリノスを指揮したエリク・モンバエルツ氏がいる。
『レキップ』によると、エタンはこれまで数回行われた選考試験に合格し、4月22日〜25日にかけて行われる最終試験に残ったとの事。48人が残り、そのうちの1人ということになる。
兄同様に名門育成組織に入学できれば、近い将来、ムバッペ兄弟がピッチで躍動する姿も見られるだろう。
