8日、『ドラゴンボール』や『Dr.スランプ』などを生み出した漫画家の鳥山明さんが、2024年3月1日に急性硬膜下血腫のため亡くなっていたことが発表された。
日本はもちろんのこと、世界中でも多くのファンを持ち、日本の漫画やアニメの文化が世界中に広がるきっかけとなった作品とも言われるのが『ドラゴンボール』。1984年から『週刊少年ジャンプ』で連載がスタートすると、アニメ化されて人気が拡大した。
海外でもファンが多い中、サッカー選手の中にも『ドラゴンボール』が好きな選手は多い。
マルセイユのガボン代表FWピエール=エメリク・オーバメヤンはインスタグラムのストーリーズで追悼。サンフレッチェ広島のマルコス・ジュニオールは鳥山さんの写真をストーリーズに投稿し、追悼した。
また、セリエAの公式X(旧ツイッター)は悟空の胴着を着た写真と共に「サッカーとドラゴンボールで育った人たちへ」と投稿。ブラジルのサントスは「鳥山明さん、安らかに。お悔やみ申し上げます」と孫悟空の画像と共に投稿し、追悼した。
グレミオはユニフォームを着た孫悟空の写真と共に「ドラゴンボールの作者、鳥山明さんが1日に逝去しました。彼は全世代を魅了し、彼の芸術を通じてグレミオが常に守ってきた逞しさと団結への価値観を伝えてくれました。あなたを包む空は輝いている。安らかにお休みください」と追悼した。
パリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)のファンなどはコレオグラフィーも出したことがあるリーグ・アンも「ありがとう、鳥山明さん」としてコレオグラフィーの写真と共に追悼。セビージャは『ドラゴンボール』に出てくるフュージョンのポーズをとるルーカス・オカンポスとスソの写真と共に追悼した。
その他にもドルトムント、ミラン、ユベントス、バレンシア、レアル・ソシエダ、レアル・ベティス、フラメンゴ、インデペンディエンテ、ビジャレアルなど多くのクラブも追悼。カリアリに至っては、トリノ戦のメンバーリストを『ドラゴンボール』仕様にして投稿し追悼。アスレティック・ビルバオは、ニコ・ウィリアムズとイニャキ・ウィリアムズの兄弟がフュージョンポーズをとってオマージュし、追悼。ラ・リーガも2人が試合中のパフォーマンスで行った動画を投稿していた。
改めて鳥山明さんの偉大さがわかる今回の各方面からの反応。世界中の人々に多くの感動と勇気を与えていたことが改めて感じられることとなった。

ガーナ代表のクリス・ヒュートン監督がアーセナルのMFトーマス・パルティのケガに言及した。イギリス『フットボール・ロンドン』が伝えた。
今月開催のアフリカ・ネーションズカップ(CAN)2023に臨むガーナ代表は、1日に27名の招集メンバーを発表。FWアンドレとFWジョルダンのアイェウ兄弟や、MFモハメド・クドゥス、FWイニャキ・ウィリアムズらが順当に選出された中、11月から負傷欠場が続いているトーマスは選外となった。
ヒュートン監督は「これまでで最大のケガ」とトーマスの状態についてコメント。アーセナルと連携しながら復帰をサポートしていることも明かした。
「我々のチームに悪影響を与えるつもりで言うわけではないが、トーマス・パルティは我々にとって最も重要な選手の1人だ」
「これは我々がよく理解していることであり、本来であればケガを抱えていたとしても確実にメンバー入りするはずだ。我々は彼の選手としてのクオリティを知っているが、かなりのケガを抱えている」
「私はこの間、トーマスと多くの時間を過ごしたし、アーセナルのメディカルスタッフとも協力してきた。彼らはこのケガを慎重に扱うつもりであり、選手本人も同様だ。これは彼にとって大きなケガであり、これまでで最大のケガだ」
「監督として、そして(ガーナサッカー)協会として最も重要なのは、この時期中、彼に必要なサポートを与えることだ。我々が得た全ての情報によると、彼のリカバリーのスケジュールや今後注意すべきことを踏まえれば、アフリカ・ネーションズカップには間に合わないだろう」

ガーナサッカー協会(GFA)は1日、アフリカ・ネーションズカップ(CAN)2023に臨む同国代表メンバー27名を発表した。
クリス・ヒュートン監督率いるガーナは、通算5度目の優勝を目指す今大会に向けて主力を順当に招集。アンドレとジョルダンのアイェウ兄弟やモハメド・クドゥス、イニャキ・ウィリアムズ、モハメド・サリスらがメンバーに名を連ねた。

アスレティック・ビルバオは29日、ガーナ代表FWイニャキ・ウィリアムズ(29)との契約を2027年6月30日まで延長したことを発表した。
新契約にサインしたイニャキ・ウィリアムズは、同日に行われた会見で以下のように喜びを語った。
｢弟のニコ・ウィリアムズと一緒にサン・マメスでプレーを続けられるのは光栄なことだ。両親も喜んでくれている。それは僕の夢であり、僕らがずっと夢見てきたことなんだ。これからもずっとここにいたい。それは、これからアスレティックでプレーを目指す少年たちへのメッセージでもあるんだ｣
ガーナ人の父親とリベリア人の母親の元、ビルバオで生まれ育ったイニャキは、バスク純血主義を抱えるアスレティックのカンテラからトップチームに昇格し、2015年には黒人選手として初めてゴールを記録。
以降は186㎝の恵まれた体躯、爆発的なスピード、テクニック、得点感覚を武器にアスレティックの前線の主力に君臨し、ここまで公式戦401試合に出場し94ゴール55アシストを記録。
今季は弟のニコ・ウィリアムズとの両翼でチームの攻撃を牽引。これまでラ・リーガ全試合に出場し、8ゴール3アシストをマークしていた。

アスレティック・ビルバオのスペイン代表FWニコ・ウィリアムズの不貞行為が暴露されてしまった。スペイン『マルカ』が伝えた。
兄のイニャキ・ウィリアムズと共にアスレティックで躍動するニコ・ウィリアムズ。ウインガーとして台頭し、2022年9月にはスペイン代表デビュー。ルイス・エンリケ監督の下でカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)にも出場。日本代表戦を含む4試合でプレーしていた。
その後も継続してスペイン代表に呼ばれているニコ・ウィリアムズだが、元ガールフレンドが当時の不貞行為を暴露した。
ニコ・ウィリアムズと交際していたのは、インフルエンサーであり、TikTokerのルシア・コレアさん。インスタグラムは36万5000人のフォロワーがおり、TikTokでは約93万8000人のフォロワーを誇り、6000万以上の「いいね」をもらっている人気者だ。
コレアさんは、コンテンツクリエイターのアドリ・コントレラス氏の「Twitch」チャンネルに出演。交際当時の様子を明かした。
「私には将来が見えなかった。4カ月間一緒にいたけど、その4カ月はなかったようなものだった。なぜなら、いくつかの障害があったからなの」
コレアさんの主張によると、ニコ・ウィリアムズは交際中に他の女性とも多数関係を持っていたとのこと。ニコ・ウィリアムズもインスタグラムのフォロワーが40万人を超えており、SNS上では多くの女性との出会いがあったとのこと。そこで関係を持っていたという。
また、別れた理由についてコレアさんは、「彼が私を騙していた」と答え、自ら別れを決めたという。
21歳のニコ・ウィリアムズが不誠実だったのは若さ故なのか、それとも軽く捉えていたのか。いずれにしても、自らの不貞行為でキャリアに傷をつけないことは意識してもらいたいものだ。

アスレティック・ビルバオのガーナ代表FWイニャキ・ウィリアムズ(28)のラ・リーガ連続出場記録が、251試合でストップすることになった。
ガーナ人の父親とリベリア人の母親の元、ビルバオで生まれ育ったイニャキは、バスク純血主義を抱えるアスレティックのカンテラからトップチームに昇格し、2015年には黒人選手として初めてゴールを記録。
以降は186㎝の恵まれた体躯、爆発的なスピード、テクニック、得点感覚を武器にアスレティックの前線の主力に君臨。そして、2016年4月20日に行われたアトレティコ・マドリー戦から、2023年1月22日に行われたレアル・マドリー戦まで、およそ7年近くに渡ってリーグ戦251試合に連続出場してきた。
この間に幾度か指揮官が入れ替わったものの、常にスタメンのファーストチョイスとなり続けた実力もさることながら、センターフォワードやウイングを主戦場に対戦相手の屈強な守備者とのコンタクトプレー、ロングスプリントを繰り返すプレースタイルにも関わらず、強靭なフィジカルとメンタルを併せ持つ鉄人は、負傷やコンディション不良とは無縁。
さらに、技術の問題やメンタル面のコントロールに難があるレフェリーも目立つリーグにも関わらず、カードトラブルによる欠場も一度もなかった。
しかし、ここ最近になってコンディションの問題を抱えていたイニャキは、29日に行われたラ・リーガ第19節のセルタ戦の招集メンバーから外れ、現代のフットボールにおいて驚異的と評された偉大な記録に終止符が打たれることになった。

アスレティック・ビルバオの新たなスポーツ・ディレクター(SD)に就任したミケル・ゴンザレス氏が、主力選手らの慰留に自信をのぞかせた。スペイン『ムンド・デポルティボ』が伝えている。
アスレティックはラ・リーガの中堅クラブながら、複数のスペイン代表選手が在籍。同国代表の正GKウナイ・シモン(25)とFWニコ・ウィリアムズ(20)は、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)のメンバーにも選出されている。
両選手は揃ってビッグクラブからの関心が高く、近い将来のステップアップは濃厚とも。だが、ゴンザレス新SDは29日の就任セレモニーで、2人を含めた主力選手らの引き留めはクラブの最優先事項と明言している。
「優れたタレントの維持は最優先事項。クラブはこれまでも力を入れてきた。ニコとイニャキはこの街とクラブに根ざした存在で、今後何年もここで過ごすだろう。若いサンセトも将来のプロジェクトを語る上で必要不可欠だ」
ニコと兄のガーナ代表FWイニャキ・ウィリアムズ(28)、U-21スペイン代表MFウイハン・サンセト(22)をクラブの根幹と位置付けるゴンザレスSD。一方、マンチェスター・ユナイテッド行きが噂されるシモンについても同様の姿勢を崩していない。

ナナ・オットー・アッド監督率いるガーナは、2大会ぶり4度目のW杯に出場。今大会では、グループHに入り、ポルトガル代表、ウルグアイ代表、韓国代表と同居している。
6月には来日し、日本代表とも対戦したガーナ。本大会に向けたラージリスト55名を発表していたが、正GKを争っていたGKジョー・ウォラコット(チャールトン)とGKリチャード・オフォリ(オーランド・パイレーツ)たともに負傷によりメンバー入りが叶わず。また、MFイドリス・ババ(マジョルカ)もケガによりメンバー外となった。

6月には日本代表とキリンカップサッカー2022でも対戦したガーナ代表。カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)で着用するユニフォームは、大きく様変わりしている。
ガーナ代表は2大会ぶりのW杯出場となる今大会。ナイジェリアを最終予選で下しての出場決定となった。
アーセナルのMFトーマス・パルティやクリスタル・パレスのFWジョルダン・アイェウなど実力者がいる中、今回の活動からアスレティック・ビルバオのFWイニャキ・ウィリアムズが参戦。スペイン代表歴はあるものの、親善試合だったために、代表チームの変更が可能となった。
そのガーナの新ユニフォームはプーマがデザインを担当。カラーが一新された。
ホームはこれまで白がベースで、細かいグレーのストライプが入っていたが、新ユニフォームは古いガーナの学校の雰囲気をテーマに、白い無地のユニフォームとシンプルなものに。胸には黒い大きな星が1つ入り、袖口は赤、黄色、緑の国旗カラーで彩られている。
このユニフォームは1996年にイタリアに3-2で勝利するなど、過去のガーナ代表の歴史において象徴的な瞬間にインスパイアされたとのことだ。
また、アウェイジャージが大きく変更に。これまでは黄色に黒のボーダーが細かく入っていたが、真っ赤なデザインに変更。中央にはプーマのテンプレートが採用され、国旗カラーの下には黄色で四角く縁取られた中に、黄色の背番号が入っているものとなった。
これは、大胆さと誇りの出会いがテーマだという。
ホームはシンプルに、アウェイは黄色から赤にカラーチェンジを行ったガーナ。どのようなパフォーマンスを見せるだろうか。
