アーセナルのスコットランド代表DFキーラン・ティアニーが、自身の古巣であるセルティックの日本人選手について言及した。スコットランド『サン』が伝えた。
スコットランド生まれのティアニーはセルティックのアカデミー出身。2016年1月に18歳でファーストチームに昇格すると、左サイドバックのレギュラーとしてプレー。公式戦170試合で8ゴール37アシストを記録した。
2019年8月にアーセナルに加入すると、ケガなどに悩まされながらも公式戦110試合で5ゴール13アシストを記録。今シーズンは途中出場なども多いが公式戦23試合で1ゴール1アシストを記録している。
ティアニーは今でもセルティックのファンとして知られるが、そのセルティックは昨シーズンから一気に日本人選手が増加。FW古橋亨梧をはじめ、FW前田大然、MF旗手怜央、MF井手口陽介、DF小林友希、DF岩田智輝と6名が所属。また、アンジェ・ポステコグルー監督もJリーグからやってきたこともあり、日本に縁が強くなっている一方で、チームもリーグ制覇を成し遂げるなど大きく結果を残している。
アーセナルでは日本代表DF冨安健洋とチームメイトであるティアニーは、古巣の日本人選手についてコメント。冨安にそれぞれの選手について教えてもらっていると明かした。
「トミとはよく話をする。僕は日本から来た選手のことはよく知らなかったし、先月サインした2人も同じだ。僕はJリーグを観ていないから、トミに情報と選手としての考えを聞いたんだ」
「前田大然はカタールで開催されたワールドカップの日本代表でトミと一緒にいたね。トミは契約した全ての選手についてポジティブなことを言っていたし、それを聞いてとても嬉しいよ」
また、冨安についてもコメント。両サイドバックでプレーする冨安はライバルにもなるが、良い関係を築いているようだ。
「彼も本当に素晴らしい選手だし、素晴らしいチームメイトだ。とても良い仲間だ」
「僕はいつもトミと話をして、トレーニング場ではセルティックの試合があれば一緒によく観ている。僕は、彼をセルティックのファンにしようとしているんだ(笑)」
ティアニーと言えば、幼少期に当時セルティックでスター選手だった元日本代表MF中村俊輔からスパイクをもらったエピソードが有名。同じ左利きのキックの名手に憧れていたことは有名だが、中村が多くの日本人の憧れでもあると語った。
「おかしな話だけど、僕がセルティックで子供の頃に中村俊輔からスパイクをもらった古い映像をトミが見たらしい。彼はずっと前から気がついていたんだ」

世界的に有名な元ポルノ女優のミア・ハリファさん。現在は引退しており、インフルエンサーとして活躍しているが、実は大のサッカーファンとしても知られている。
現在29歳のミアさんは、スポーツ好きであり、特にサッカーがお気に入り。レバノン出身で、8歳の時に不安定な国内情勢の影響でアメリカへ家族と共に亡命していた。
世界的にも人気を博したミアさんはウェストハムのファンであることを公言。プレミアリーグのドリームチームを自身で組むなど、サッカーへの愛が非常に強いことでも知られている。
そのミアさんはYouTubeチャンネルの『AFTV』に出演。自身のお気に入りの現役選手3名を選ぶという企画に参加した。
しかし、ミアさんは現役選手ではなく、かつてマンチェスター・ユナイテッドでプレーし、イングランド代表のレジェンドでもあるデイビッド・ベッカムをまず挙げることに。「私は女性なのでベックスと言わざるを得ないわ」とコメント。理由が実に斬新で「12歳の時の私よりも高い声で彼が話すのを聞く度に、いつも笑わせてもらうわ。とても楽しいの」と、ベッカムの高い声がどうやらお気に入りらしい。
そして2人目に挙げたのがこれまた現役選手ではなく、ユベントスやレアル・マドリーで活躍し、フランス代表のレジェンドでもあるジネディーヌ・ジダンをピックアップした。
ジダンを選んだ理由については「ジネディーヌ・ジダンはサッカーを見てきた中で、最もエキサイティングだった」と、こちらは真面目にサッカー面でお気に入りの選手とのこと。ただ「私は暴力的なものが好きだけど、サッカーはバタバタしていて嫌になるわ。でもヘッドバッドは史上最高の瞬間だったわね」と、2006年のドイツW杯決勝でジダンがイタリア代表DFマルコ・マテラッツィに見舞った頭突きがお気に入りだという。
そして3人目に挙げたのが現役選手。唯一選ばれた現役選手はセルティックに所属し、カタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)にも出場したオーストラリア代表MFアーロン・モーイだ。
日本代表FW前田大然、MF旗手怜央、FW古橋亨梧、MF井手口陽介とチームメイトとして今シーズンプレー。かつてはウェスタン・シドニー・ワンダラーズでMF小野伸二(北海道コンサドーレ札幌)共プレーしたことがある。
モーイを選んだ理由については、「フットボール界のカワイ・レナードのようなものね」と語り、NBAのロサンゼルス・クリッパーズに所属するバスケットボールプレーヤーに例え、「モーイはレナードのように行動する。カメラは苦手だし、ちょっとおっちょこちょいだけど、それを感じさせないわ」と語り、「わからないけど、彼を思い出すの。カワイ・レナードは良い男よ」と、またしても独特な理由で選出していた。

セルティックの公式YouTubeチャンネルが日本人選手たちの入団セレモニーの様子を公開。その中で露わになった日本代表MF井手口陽介の上半身のタトゥーにファンから驚きの声が寄せられている。
今冬の移籍市場で、井手口に加え、FW前田大然、MF旗手怜央と日本人3名を一気に獲得したセルティック。12日には本拠地セルティック・パークで3選手のお披露目と会見が行われた。
会見前、ロッカールームでセルティックのユニフォームに着替えた井手口だが、その左肩から左ひじにかけてと、左脇腹、そして背中にもタトゥーが施されていた。
元々、ガンバ大阪時代にも右腕にびっしりとタトゥーを入れ、年々増やしていた井手口だが、右腕以外にも多くのタトゥーを入れていることがひょんなことから露わになった。
これにはファンからも「何気にタトゥー入ってる」、「左腕にもタトゥー入ってるの全然気づいてなかったわ、いつの間に～」、「知らなかったからビックリした」、「背中にも」と驚きの反応が相次いだ。
会見には、蓄えていた髭を剃って臨んだ井手口。2度目の欧州挑戦での活躍に期待がかかる。

9日、スタッド・ランスの日本代表MF伊東純也が30歳の誕生日を迎えた。
今季からスタッド・ランスでプレーする伊東。フランスでも持ち前のスピードを生かした攻撃力でリーグ・アン23試合に出場して5ゴール5アシストを記録。リーグ戦18戦無敗としているスタッド・ランスの欠かせない戦力となっている。
誕生日を迎えた伊東はインスタグラムを更新。ホテルのような部屋の窓際に立ち外を眺める黄昏ている風の写真とともに「今日で30歳になりました。沢山のお祝いのメッセージをありがとうございました!伊東まだまだ頑張ります!!」とコメントを残した。
これには、日本代表のチームメイトとである前田大然や吉田麻也、谷口彰悟や浅野拓磨に加えて南野拓実など多くの選手たちも反応。ファンからも多くの祝福が寄せられた。

日本代表の虎党も優勝を祝福した。
14日、甲子園で行われた読売ジャイアンツとの試合で勝利し、18年ぶりのリーグ優勝を果たした阪神タイガース。道頓堀では注意喚起され、警察が厳戒態勢を敷く中で、川への飛び込みをする人も現れた。
芸能界でもタイガースファンが優勝への喜びを露わにしていた中、日本代表選手も喜びを示している。
それはセルティックのFW前田大然。大阪府出身の前田は野球も好きで、阪神タイガースのファン。今回の18年ぶりのリーグ優勝を喜んだ。
前田は自身のX(旧ツイッター)で阪神の優勝報告をリツイート。「やった!!!おめでとうございます」とコメントした。
これにはファンも「まじかよw」、「ダイゼンマンも虎党だったんだ」、「阪神ファンだったとは」、「まさかの!」、「ガチ勢だな」、「スコットランドからもw」と驚きの声。阪神ファンであることが定着していないようで、多くの驚きを与えることとなった。
前田はWBCの際にも「湯浅選手があの場面を一点で抑えたのが大きかったと思います!!!」と阪神ファンぶりを披露しており、今回のことで阪神ファンの中でも定着した可能性はありそうだ。
