イングランド代表のガレス・サウスゲイト監督が、追加招集したマンチェスター・ユナイテッドのMFコビー・メイヌーに言及した。イギリス『90min』が伝えた。

18歳ながら所属先のユナイテッドで素晴らしいパフォーマンスを見せ、中盤の主軸となった生え抜きMFのメイヌー。今回の代表ウィークでは当初こそU-21イングランド代表に選出されていたが、フル代表への昇格を果たした。

以前はメイヌーのフル代表入りに関して、「適切なタイミングで招集する必要がある｣と慎重な姿勢を見せていたサウスゲイト監督。考えを改めて追加招集に至ったが、選手の成長を止めないよう細心の注意を払っていることを強調した。
「コビーに関しては、どれだけ早く進めていくべきかを意識していると先週言った。選手たちは適切なタイミングで、適切なステップを踏む必要がある。我々にとって、彼は今後の選手だった。彼に今起きていることを止めたくなかった」

一方、フル代表に加わったメイヌーはさっそくサウスゲイト監督に好印象を与えている模様。デビューの可能性も示唆されている。
「彼は見事に順応している。トレーニングレベルは素晴らしい。我々は彼をピッチに出すことを躊躇しない」

イングランド代表は23日、ウェンブリー・スタジアムで行われる親善試合でブラジル代表と対戦。26日にはベルギー代表との親善試合も予定されており、メイヌーの初キャップ獲得が期待される。

「可愛い!」ペガサスに乗って宙を舞うイングランド代表FWサカの衝撃写真が話題沸騰「この男を愛さないわけにはいかない」

横浜FMが新指揮官にサウスゲイトの“右腕”ホーランド氏を招へい 「タイトルを争うチームを築きあげていきたい」…ハッチンソン暫定監督は退任

代表復帰戦でゴールのグリーリッシュにイングランド代表指揮官「我々に証明するものは何もない。実力は明らか」

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任

元マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのスポーツディレクター(SD)、ダン・アシュワース氏が、イングランドサッカー協会(FA)に復帰することになった。 FAは14日、アシュワース氏が新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任すると発表。同職ではイングランド代表の男女チームと緊密に連携していくことになるという。 昨年12月にユナイテッドのSDをわずか5カ月で退任したアシュワース氏。それ以前にはブライトン&ホーヴ・アルビオン、ニューカッスルで手腕を発揮しており、国内外のクラブからのオファーも想定されていたが、2018年まで6年間に渡って勤務していたFAに復帰することになった。 アシュワース氏は、セント・ジョージズ・パークの再開発を監督し、2028年に開催されるユーロ2028の共催に向け、競技施設とピッチの改善を目指す。 さらに、この新役職は、男子フットボールのテクニカルディレクターであるジョン・マクダーモット氏と緊密に連携するとともに、FAの最高経営責任者(CEO)であるマーク・ブリンガム氏とも連携する。 また、イングランド国内の地元出身のコーチの育成にも携わる予定だという。 2025.05.15 16:30 Thu

イングランド代表が新ユニフォームを発表、赤ではなくなったアウェイは賛否分かれる「初めてじゃないか?」「そのチョイスはなしだ」

史上最高“究極”のオールラウンダー、フランク・ランパード
