スペイン代表のルイス・デ・ラ・フエンテ監督が、ジョージア代表戦で負傷したMFガビについて語った。19日、ユーロ2024予選グループA最終節でスペインはジョージアをホームに迎えて戦った。

すでに本大会出場を決めているスペイン。この試合で先発したガビは20分過ぎに負傷。自ら交代を要求してピッチを後にしていた。
最初の検査で右ヒザの前十字じん帯断裂と診断され、長期離脱の可能性が浮上。若き才能はユーロにも間に合わない可能性もあるという。

試合後デ・ラ・フエンテ監督はガビについて言及。誰にとっても厳しい状況であり、チームの様子を伝えた。
「ガビにとってもバルセロナにとっても、スペイン代表にとっても厳しくて困難な瞬間だ。全てを理解している。我々は打ちのめされ、ロッカールームでは負けたようだった」

「サッカーは危険なスポーツであり、ケガは制御できない。ロッカールームはお通夜状態だった」

「私は選手たちに気を持ち直さなければいけないと言った。たとえ心が折れても、負傷したチームメイトに敬意を表し、前に進まなければならなかった」

また、ガビの負傷状況についても語り、接触ではなく、自分で負傷したとコメント。復活を願った。

「彼は接触のせいではなく、コントロールをミスし、踏み込んだ際にヒザを痛めたと言っていた。ガビは試合をプレーするには完璧な状態だった」

「ガビは傷つき、壊れてしまったが、我々は不死身だと信じている。こんなことが起こるとは思ってもいなかった」

「99%の希望を失った」スペインの名医がガビの負傷に言及「劇的な状況になってしまう」、原因は「選手の試合数」

「99%の希望を失った」スペインの名医がガビの負傷に言及「劇的な状況になってしまう」、原因は「選手の試合数」
