ミランのイングランド代表DFフィカヨ・トモリが代表への想いを語った。イギリス『エクスプレス』が伝えた。
2021年1月にチェルシーを離れて以降、ミランで活躍しているトモリ。チェルシー時代の2019年11月にはイングランド代表フル代表デビューも果たしたが、ここまでの出場試合数は「4」と思うようにキャップ数が伸びていない。
それでも、9月と10月の代表戦でメンバー入りしていたトモリは11月のユーロ2024予選にも選出。初めて3回連続で招集を受けたこの25歳はなかなか代表に定着できなかったことへのもどかしさを口にした。
「フラストレーションはあったか? もちろんだ」
「大抵の選手は一度ここに来れば『とどまりたい』と言うだろうし、その味を覚えたらこのまま積み重ねたいと思うだろう」
「それから僕はミランに行き、代表合宿に参加したり、しなかったりを繰り返した。でも、今シーズンは本当に良いスタートが切れて、なんとか何試合かに出場することができたし、代表合宿には全て参加できた」
「順調なスタートを切っているから、今はただこの調子をキープしていきたい。もっと試合に出て、もっとたくさんキャップを獲得したい」
また、自らのミラン移籍の決断が間違っていなかったとも語っている。

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

イングランド代表が新ユニフォームを発表、赤ではなくなったアウェイは賛否分かれる「初めてじゃないか?」「そのチョイスはなしだ」

イングランド代表のユニフォームが変? ファンが気づいた異変はベテランキットマンのまさかのミス…「間違ってしまった」
