イタリアサッカー連盟(FIGC)は26日、ニューカッスルのイタリア代表MFサンドロ・トナーリ(23)への活動禁止処分を発表した。

FIGCは、トナーリに対して10カ月のサッカー活動禁止処分を下すことを決定。これにより、トナーリは2024年8月まで公式戦でプレーできないことになり、ユーロ2024の出場も不可能となった。

なお、ニューカッスルではトレーニング参加することやフレンドリーマッチに出場することは可能に。ただ、これもクラブが許可するかどうかという問題が残っている。
イタリア当局との司法取引も行ったトナーリは、取引の一環としてギャンブル依存症の治療セッションに出席する他、8カ月にわたって自身の経験について講演を行う必要がある。

FIGCは、違法ウェブサイトを利用してトナーリが賭博に関与していることをトリノ検察当局から指摘され、動き出すこととなっていた。
本来であれば国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)の規則に従うと最大で3年間の出場停止処分を受ける可能性があったが、FIGCのガブリエレ・グラヴィナ会長はトナーリは18カ月の出場停止処分を受けたものの、うち8カ月はギャンブル依存症の治療に通い、依存症回復者のケアのために少なくとも16回は公の場に出ることで処分を軽減できると語った。

「若者たちを罰することだけを考えて、回復の手助けをしないわけにはいかない」

「数カ月の出場禁止処分よりも、8カ月間、経験したことを正直に、正しい振る舞いで話すことの方がずっと価値があると思う」

トナーリはミランからニューカッスルへ5500万ポンド(約100億1000万円)で今シーズン加入。大きな期待が寄せられ、20年ぶりにチャンピオンズリーグ(CL)を戦うチームにとっても大きな補強になると考えられた。

そのトナーリは、プレミアリーグで8試合1ゴール、CLで3試合出場、カラバオカップ(EFLカップ)で1試合に出場。しかし、イタリアサッカー界を揺るがす違法賭博のスキャンダルが発覚。その後、ギャンブル依存症であることを告白し、ミラン時代にはミランの試合にも賭けるなどしていたことを供述していた。

ミラン、チームの心臓トナーリと2027年まで契約延長

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

「イケすぎてませんか」イタリア代表が白×金の125周年記念ユニフォームを発表!「美しい」「マジでかっこいい」

あの日を最後に18年…マテラッツィ氏が改めて「ジダンと会いたい」
