女子W杯共催のオーストラリアとニュージーランド、2029年クラブW杯招致を検討

オーストラリアとニュージーランドが、2029年のFIFAクラブ・ワールドカップ(CWC)の開催地に立候補することを検討しているようだ。

2025年大会から4年に一度の開催周期になるCWCは参加クラブも現在の7チームから32チームに拡大され、2021～24年までの各大陸王者らが出場。日本からは今年5月にAFCチャンピオンズリーグ(ACL)を制した浦和レッズの出場が決定している。

また、先日に国際サッカー連盟(FIFA)は、2025年のCWC開催地がアメリカに決定したことを発表している。

来月にニュージーランドとのFIFA女子ワールドカップ(W杯)の開催を控えるオーストラリアサッカー連盟(FFA)のジェームズ・ジョンソンCEOは、両国がその新フォーマットのCWC第2回大会の開催地に立候補することを検討していると語った。

2018年までFIFAでジャンニ・インファンティーノ会長の下で働いていた同氏は、「ジャンニはUEFAでチャンピオンズリーグを本当に成長させた。彼はそのために何が必要かを知っている。いつの日か最高のクラブチームが我々の海岸に来ることは、オーストラリアンフットボールにとって良いことだけだ」、「それは男子ワールドカップと同様に我々が検討できることだが、それは我々が史上最高の女子ワールドカップを実現した後だ」と、オーストラリア『シドニー・モーニング・ヘラルド』でコメントした。

また、ジョンソン氏は今回の女子W杯、2029年のCWC開催を足掛かりに、2034年の男子W杯の招致を目指していることも認めている。

「漫画かよ」「ドラマがあるなぁ」“救世主”三笘薫と中村憲剛氏の13年前の姿にファンも感激「エモすぎる」

財務危機のオーストラリア・Aリーグだが…最速で25-26シーズンから男子2部リーグ制導入の動き変わらず

女性審判員のパイオニア、フラパール主審がイングランドvsオーストラリアを担当…女性としてウェンブリーで初の主審に
