フリーのリンガードにアメリカから“画期的な”オファー? 代理人も渡米へ

イングランド代表MFジェシー・リンガード(29)に対して、新たにアメリカ行きの可能性が浮上している。

昨季限りでマンチェスター・ユナイテッドと契約が切れ、フリーのリンガード。年齢的にも脂の乗り切った代表選手とあって、2020-21シーズン後半を半年ローンで過ごした古巣ウェストハムの関心が長らく噂されるなか、エバートンからも視線が注がれ、人気を博す。

だが、アメリカ『ESPN』によれば、クラブ名こそ伏せたままだが、メジャーリーグサッカー(MLS)の2クラブもフォローしているとのこと。オファーの条件面も“画期的な”ものと推察され、リンガードの代理人は話を聞くためにアメリカに向かう予定だという。

渦中のリンガードはまだ移籍先をこれといって決めておらず、選択肢の幅を広げようとしている状況の様子。移籍先を決めるにあたって、今年11月に迫るカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)のイングランド代表入りを睨み、レギュラーとしてのプレーを重視している模様だ。

サッカー界で活躍するトッププレーヤーともなれば、本業のサッカー以外でも事業を展開している選手は多い。しかし、サッカー選手としての才能が必ずしも経営者としての才能につながるわけではないようだ。マンチェスター・ユナイテッドに所属するイングランド代表MFジェシー・リンガードが立ち上げたアパレルブランド「JLingz」だが、大きな損失を生み出してしまったようだ。イギリス『マンチェスター・イブニング・ニュース』が伝えている。リンガードは2018年夏に自身のブランド「JLingz」を立ち上げ、ロゴには自身のゴールパフォーマンスを模したデザインを採用し、アクセサリーや帽子、Tシャツ、フーディー、ジャケットなどの様々なアイテムを販売。リンガード本人は、同ブランドの取締役の一人だ。しかし、2018年1月に法人化されて以降、最初の1年間で21万1688ポンド(約3000万円)の赤字を計上してしまったようだ。商品が発売されたのは2018年後半からではあるものの、やや心配な数字だ。リンガードがこのブランドを立ち上げた際には、マンチェスター・ユナイテッドのOBであるロイ・キーン氏やギャリー・ネビル氏らから「フットボールに集中すべき」と苦言を呈されていた。また、アンフィールドでリバプールに3-1で敗れる前だったからバツが悪い。今シーズンのリンガードは”本業”でも負傷を重ね、ここまでノーゴールとやや不調に陥っており、サポーターから向けられる目は厳しくなっている。 2019.11.05 19:17 Tue
