逆境のドンナルンマ、イタリアの伝説的GKが擁護「ユーロ優勝は彼のおかげ」

イタリア代表のレジェンドが、パリ・サンジェルマン(PSG)のイタリア代表GKジャンルイジ・ドンナルンマを称賛した。『カルチョメルカート』が伝えている。

昨夏開催されたユーロ2020では守護神として母国を優勝に導く活躍を見せたドンナルンマ。しかし、2021-22シーズンはクラブでもナショナルチームでも苦しんだ1年となった。

ミランを契約満了で退団し、新加入となったPSGでは正守護神としての活躍が期待されたが、コスタリカ代表GKケイロル・ナバスからスタメンの座を奪い切ることはできず。公式戦24試合の出場にとどまり、チャンピオンズリーグ(CL)では準決勝のレアル・マドリー戦で敗退に直結するミスも犯してしまった。

イタリア代表としてはカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)欧州予選プレーオフ準決勝で、北マケドニア代表に0-1で屈し敗退。ロシアW杯から2大会連続で出場を逃したチームの中でも、守護神は強い批判を浴びた。

イタリア代表GKとしてW杯に3度出場し、1982年のスペインW杯では優勝も経験したディノ・ゾフ氏は、逆境にある“後輩たち“について言及。大舞台への切符を逃したことを嘆きつつも、ユーロ制覇を果たしたチームの功績を称えている。

「最近はW杯に出場出来ていないが、ユーロで優勝できたことはとても重要だった」

「2回連続での予選敗退は確かに痛い。しかし、今の選手たちは私の時代よりずっと良いものを吸収してる」

さらに、ドンナルンマ個人に向けても「今、最も重要な役割を担っている選手だ。ユーロで優勝することができたのは彼のおかげだ」と大きな賛辞を送った。
