マンチェスター・ユナイテッドは、イタリア代表のロベルト・マンチーニ監督も次期監督候補に挙げているようだ。イギリス『テレグラフ』が報じている。

成績不振によりオーレ・グンナー・スールシャール監督を解任したユナイテッドは、ラルフ・ラングニック氏の招へいに成功した。現在第一線で活躍するドイツ人指揮官の多くが、この智将の手ほどきを受けており、そんな彼らからは“プロフェッサー”という愛称で尊敬されている。

ラングニック新監督は、今季いっぱいはチームで指揮を執るが、その後はコンサルタントという立場でクラブ全体の舵取り役を担うことになっている。そのため、ユナイテッドは引き続き新指揮官の模索を続けており、パリ・サンジェルマンのマウリシオ・ポチェッティーノ監督や、元レアル・マドリーのジネディーヌ・ジダン監督の名前が挙げられている。

一方、『テレグラフ』によれば、新たにマンチーニ監督も候補に浮上。57歳の指揮官は2018年5月からイタリア代表を率いており、今夏にはユーロ2020で53年ぶりの優勝に導いた。

ところが、カタール・ワールドカップの欧州予選ではまさかのグループ2位に終わり、プレーオフに回ることに。仮に本戦出場を逃すことになれば、進退に影響することは間違いなく、ユナイテッド側としては交渉が容易になると見られている。

しかしながら、マンチーニ監督といえば、ユナイテッドのライバルクラブであるマンチェスター・シティで指揮を執った人物。プレミアリーグ優勝に導いた実績もあり、その関係性がネックとなりそうだが…。

マンチーニに恨み節炸裂のブリッジ氏、イタリアのユーロ優勝は「最悪だった」

ジャンルカ・ヴィアッリの訃報に接して/六川亨の日本サッカー見聞録

「訃報は続く」と言われるが、昨年末のペレに続いて1月8日には元ブラジル代表のストライカー、ロベルト・ディナミッチが腸癌のためリオデジャネイロの病院で死去した。68歳での他界は、やはり早いと言っていいだろう。彼の名を初めて知ったのは78年アルゼンチンW杯だった。登録名(本名)はロベルト・ジ・オリヴェイラだったが、「ダイナマイトのような強烈なシュートを放つ」ことからジャーナリストがつけたニックネームがロベルト・“ディナミッチ(英語でダイナマイト)”だった。ただ、78年アルゼンチン大会はCFにレイナウドがいて、ジーコもFW起用されるなど出場機会は限られ、スタメンに定着したのは2次リーグに入ってからだった(ブラジルは無敗だったが3位に終わる)。そして4年後の82年スペインW杯もエースのカレッカ(元柏レイソル)の負傷により代表に招集されたものの、長身FWセルジーニョの控えに甘んじて、W杯ではニックネーム通りの活躍はできなかった。そんな彼の訃報より衝撃的だったのが、1月6日に膵癌で死去した元イタリア代表FWのジャンルカ・ヴィアッリだ。まだ58歳という若さだった。彼のプレーを初めて見たのは86年メキシコW杯の開幕戦、イタリア対ブルガリ戦の後半22分過ぎだった。ブルーノ・コンティに代わって出場したが、ポジションはCFではなく4-3-3の右ウイングだった。まだ21歳と若く、荒削りな選手という印象を受けた。テクニックがあるわけではなく、どちらかというと屈強なフィジカルを生かし、相手をブロックしながら強引なドリブルでボールを運んでいた。「イタリア人にしては下手な選手だな」というのが彼のプレーを見た最初の印象で、それは撮影していたカメラマンら同業者も同じ印象だった。そして誰が言うともなく、フリーライターの富樫洋一さん(2006年2月にアフリカ選手権を取材中にカイロで死去。54歳)の強引なプレーと「似ている」と意見が一致。それを本人に伝えると褒められたと思ったのか、セリエA好きとも相まって後年は自ら『ジャンルカ・トト・富樫』と名乗るようになった。前回覇者のイタリアは、グループリーグこそアルゼンチンに次いで2位で突破したものの、ノックアウトステージ1回戦でミシェル・プラティニ率いるフランスに0-2で敗れて姿を消した。そしてヴィアッリもこれといった印象を残すことなくメキシコを後にした。しかしサンプドリアでは、FWロベルト・マンチーニやMFトニーニョ・セレーゾ(元鹿島監督)、DFペーター・ブリーゲルら実力者を揃え、ジェノバのプロビンチャを2シーズン連続して(87―88、88―89)コッパ・イタリア優勝に導いた。さらに89-90シーズンはUEFAカップ・ウィナーズ・カップで優勝すると、90-91シーズンには初のスクデットを獲得すると同時に得点王にも輝いた。ところが自国開催の90年イタリアW杯ではサルバトーレ(トト)・スキラッチやロベルト・バッジョらの台頭により活躍の場も少なく、その真価を発揮することはできなかった。その後はユベントスやチェルシーといった名門クラブに移籍してチームにタイトルをもたらし、チェルシーではプレイングマネジャーとしても活躍。2020年には長年の友人であるマンチーニ代表監督のコーディネーターを務めてEUROの優勝に貢献。1968年の第3回大会の優勝以来、実に52年ぶりとなる欧州制覇だった。しかし2018年に癌で闘病生活を送っていることを告白。19年には治療のため代表チームのコーディネーターからも外れて治療に専念したものの、残念ながら帰らぬ人となってしまった。現役時代、全盛時を知っている選手の訃報に接すると心が痛むが、これも時の流れなのだろう。改めて2人の選手が安らかな眠りにつかれるようお祈りしたい。 2023.01.13 16:30 Fri

香川真司がユナイテッド退団の転機を明らかに「ディ・マリアとファルカオがやって来て…」
