新監督探すユナイテッド、ルシアン・ファブレにも接触

新監督を模索中のマンチェスター・ユナイテッドが、ルシアン・ファブレ氏(64)にもコンタクトを取ったようだ。イギリス『テレグラフ』が報じている。

今季は序盤から不安定な戦いが続き、今月21日についにオーレ・グンナー・スールシャールの首を切ったユナイテッド。その後行われたチャンピオンズリーグのビジャレアル戦は、マイケル・キャリック暫定監督の下、見事勝利を収めた。

アシスタントコーチが基盤を立て直す一方、クラブは新監督招へいの動きを活発化させている。これまでにパリ・サンジェルマンのマウリシオ・ポチェッティーノを筆頭に、アヤックスのエリク・テン・ハグ、元レアル・マドリーのジネディーヌ・ジダン、そして元バルセロナのエルネスト・バルベルデの名前が挙がっている中、新たにファブレ氏が候補に加わった。

スイス人指揮官の同氏は、キャリア初期はチューリッヒなど母国のクラブで経験を積み、ここ10年ではヘルタ・ベルリンやボルシアMG、ニースを指揮。2018年夏からはドルトムントでブンデスリーガの覇権奪回を託されたが、2年連続2位に終わり、2020年12月に解任。以降はフリーの状態が続いている。

そのため、最近はプレミアリーグのクラブと関連付けられることが多く、クリスタル・パレスやニューカッスルも招へいを検討していた模様。ファブレ氏にとってユナイテッドはより魅力的と思われるが、次期監督は本命であるポチェッティーノ監督招へいに至るまでの場繋ぎ的な役割になる可能性もあるとのこと。

だが、その思惑が果たして上手くいくのかどうか、いささか不明だ。

「高価な食べ物はない」ギネス記録樹立、C・ロナウドのあの肉体の秘訣を専属シェフが明かす
