G・ジェズスがアルゼンチンとのコパ決勝を欠場…チリ戦での一発退場に追加処分…

ブラジル代表FWガブリエウ・ジェズスが、一足先にコパ・アメリカでの戦いを終えることになった。

ジェズスは2日に行われたコパ・アメリカ2021準決勝のチリ代表戦(1-0で勝利)に先発出場。しかし、後半立ち上がりの48分にハイボールを処理しようとした相手DFエウゲニオ・メナに対し、足裏を見せたタックルを見舞ってしまう。顔面付近に飛び蹴りが入る形となり、主審は即刻退場を命じていた。

この時、ジェズスの視線は完全にボールに向かっていたため、故意のファウルではないように思えるが、相手に足が当たる瞬間に、引っ込めようとするどころかヒザを伸ばし切っており、一部で故意との指摘も出ていた。

そして、南米サッカー連盟(CONMEBOL)は6日、すでに準決勝のペルー代表戦(1-0で勝利)を出場停止で欠場していたジェズスに対して、追加で1試合の出場停止処分を科すことを決定した。

ブラジルサイドに異議申し立ては認められておらず、ジェズスはアルゼンチン代表との対戦が決定した10日の決勝戦を欠場することが確定。さらに、CONMEBOLはジェズスに対して、5000ドル(約55万円)の罰金処分を課している。

なお、ジェズスは自身の公式『インスタグラム』を通じて、今回の決定に対する不満を示している。

「2試合の出場停止と異議申し立てなし? おめでとう、CONMEBOL。あなた方は何が起こったのか、正しく理解していないと思う」

今回のCONMEBOLの決定に関しては妥当との意見が大方を占めているが、志半ばで大会を終える形となったジェズスの無念も理解できるところだ。

21世紀の出場試合数ランキング発表! 首位は1145試合のC・ロナウド、トップ10に日本人選手がランクイン
