かつてはバーミンガム、ブラックバーンなどで活躍した元ウェールズ代表MFのロビー・サヴェージ氏(46)の息子がマンチェスター・ユナイテッドとプロ契約を締結した。

かつてデイビッド・ベッカム氏らと同じ黄金世代の一員としてユナイテッドの下部組織で育った父を持つU-18ウェールズ代表MFチャーリー・サヴェージ(17)。

父と同様にセントラルMFを主戦場とするチャーリーだが、豊富な運動量を生かしたハードワークと、激しいタックルを最大の特長としていた父とは異なり、よりエレガントなプレースタイルを持つレフティー。

今シーズンここまではU-18チームで17試合に出場し2ゴール5アシストをマークし、U-23チームの試合でもベンチメンバーに入る将来性豊かなタレントだ。

そのチャーリーは7日、自身の公式『ツイッター』を通じてユナイテッドと自身初となるプロ契約にサインしたことを明かした。

「マンチェスター・ユナイテッドとの初めてのプロ契約にサインできたことを嬉しく思うよ」

「友人や家族、そして(エージェンシーの)『ニューエラ・グローバルスポーツ』のすべての人たちに感謝を伝えたい。これからもハードワークを続けていくよ」

「高価な食べ物はない」ギネス記録樹立、C・ロナウドのあの肉体の秘訣を専属シェフが明かす
