スペイン代表は25日に行われたカタール・ワールドカップ(W杯)欧州予選グループB第1節でギリシャ代表と対戦。ホームで幸先よく先取したが、献上したPKのチャンスから追いつかれ、1-1のドローに終わった。

白星発進とはならなかったスペイン代表。ルイス・エンリケ監督は試合後、「この結果は望んだものじゃない」と不満を吐露した。
「どんな試合にも複雑な要素がある。彼らは非常によく守り、我々はファイナルサードで精彩を欠いた。引き分けを良しとするのは私の仕事じゃない。引き分けに値せず、1-0が妥当だったとも思う。我々はこのゲームで求められたことに応えられなかった」

また、この試合に先発したDFセルヒオ・ラモスがハーフタイムでピッチを後に。ルイス・エンリケ監督は「ラモスは大丈夫。前半だけのプレーを事前に決めていた」と話している。
スペイン代表は28日に行われる次節、ジョージア代表とアウェイで対戦。31日にはセリビアでコソボ代表と相対する。

データおよびテクノロジーにおけるリーディングカンパニーの「ニールセン・グレースノート」が、オーストラリア&ニュージーランド女子ワールドカップ(W杯)に出場する選手のインフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表した。 なでしこジャパンも出場する女子W杯。開幕までおよそ1カ月となった中で、各国の出場選手も決定している。 「ニールセン・グレースノート」は出場する選手の中での、インフルエンサーとしてのランキングを発表。フォロワーやフォロワーの増加、エンゲージメント率など、インスタグラム上の投稿ごとの平均ブランド価値を評価してランキングを発表した。 トップ10が発表され、実に9カ国の選手がランクイン。アメリカ女子代表のみが唯一2選手がランクインしている。 1位に輝いたのは、アストン・ビラでプレーするスイス女子代表のアリーシャ・レーマン。世界一セクシーなアスリートとしても知られ、インスタグラムのフォロワーは1340万人。元プロテニスプレーヤーのロジャー・フェデラーを超え、インスタグラムで最も人気のあるスイス人アスリートとなっている。 アストン・ビラでは2シーズンでFA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)で43試合に出場し7ゴール。スイス代表としても38キャップを記録している。 2位には、バルセロナのエースでありスペイン女子代表のエースでもあるMFアレクシア・プテジャス。フォロワーは280万人であり、1位のレーマンがどれほどのフォロワーを抱えているかがわかる。 重傷のガビに1歳年上の姉が最大のエール「パパとママは乗り越える方法を教えてくれたわ」

「僕はスペイン人」18歳ハイセンが母国オランダに決別…2月にスペイン国籍取得でU-21代表デビュー

ペドリが後輩ガビとの関係語る 「チャビとイニエスタのようなコンビに…」
