今回は、ボカ・ジュニアーズの元アルゼンチン代表FWカルロス・テベスがマンチェスター・シティ時代に決めたフリーキックだ。

◆その軌道はもはやカットボール!

マンチェスター・ユナイテッドでの活躍の後、2009年に同じ市内のライバルであるシティへ移籍したテベス。シティでもゴールを量産したテベスだが、2011年5月17日に行われたプレミアリーグ第37節のストーク・シティ戦では圧巻の直接FKも決めている。

2-0とシティがリードして迎えた65分、ゴールほぼ正面の位置でFKのチャンスを獲得する。ゴールまではやや距離があったものの、テベスが思い切りよく右足を振り抜くと、壁の外を抜いたシュートは、凄まじいスピードのまま左にスライドし、ゴール右上の隅に突き刺さった。

全く垂れないスピードと、鋭く左に変化する軌道はまるで野球のカットボールのようだった。
