マンチェスター・シティのイングランド代表MFフィル・フォーデンがフル代表デビューの喜びを語った。

シティのアカデミー育ちで、イングランドの次代を担う秀英のひとりとして、大きな期待を集めるフォーデン。公式戦38試合8得点9アシストを記録した2019-20シーズンに大きく飛躍を遂げ、この今月の代表ウィークでフル代表から初の招集を受けた。

そんなフォーデンは5日に行われたUEFAネーションズリーグ2020-21でアイスランド代表戦の先発メンバーに入り、待望のフル代表デビュー。68分までプレーして、チームも後半アディショナルタイムのゴールで1-0の勝利を収めた。

試合後にイギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』のインタビューに応じたフォーデンはデビューに喜びの心境を明かしたが、代表定着を目指した。

「アメージングな気分だよ。今日、デビューできたのは僕だけじゃなく、家族にとっても大きな瞬間だ。すごく難しい試合だった。彼らはよく守り、僕らも素晴らしいキャラクターを示したと思う。この勝利は国にとって、大きな意味を持つもの。プレッシャーはあまり感じなかったね。僕らはただ自分たちのフットボールをしようとしているだけだ」

「さっきも言ったように、僕らは素晴らしいキャラクターを示して、勝利のためにやり遂げた。練習もすごく高いレベルで取り組めている。僕自身はただできる限りのことを学ぼうとしているだけ。これで終わりじゃなく、この先も国のためにプレーしたい思いだ。このシャツを守りたい。次の試合も勝利を目指す。この仕事を良い形で終わらせたい」

元ユナイテッドSDがFAに復帰…新設のチーフ・フットボール・オフィサーに就任

北中米W杯の欧州予選組み合わせ決定! 12カ国+POの4カ国が出場権獲得、来年3月からスタート【2026年北中米W杯欧州予選】

イングランドサッカー協会(FA)とナイキは18日、イングランド代表の新ユニフォームを発表した。ガレス・サウスゲイト監督のもと、2018年のロシア・ワールドカップ(W杯)はベスト4、2021年のユーロ2020は準優勝、2022年のカタール・ワールドカップはベスト8と、一定の成績を残し続けているイングランド。6月に開幕するユーロ2024の出場権も獲得し、スロベニア代表、デンマーク代表、セルビア代表と同居するグループCに入っている。そのユーロでも着用する新ユニフォームだが、ホームユニフォームはクラシックなデザインに。遠目で見ると白の無地に見えるが、薄っすらと同色のストライプがデザインされている。袖口には、過去の代表のトレーニングウェアからヒントを得たという、ネイビー、青、赤の3色のラインが入っており、ネイビーの襟の裏側にはイングランドの国旗をアレンジしたものがあしらわれた。一方のアウェイユニフォームは、過去の代表の象徴的なユニフォームを現代的にアレンジし、目を引くパープルで大胆に主張。シャツのサイドにはイングランドのファッションにちなんだという7色で構成されたラインが入っているほか、襟の裏にはイングランドの国旗をサイドのラインと同じ7色であしらった。イングランド代表の新ユニフォームは「クラシックで最高」、「買うしかない」、「最高にクール」と好評の声が多いが、アウェイは紫色という意外なカラーだったこともあり「美しい色だ」、「アウェイは赤であるべきだ」、「初めてじゃないか」、「その色のチョイスはなしだ」と意見が分かれている。 <span class="paragraph-title">【写真】アウェイは紫!イングランド代表の新ユニフォーム</span> <span data-other-div="movie"></span> <blockquote class="instagram-media" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink="https://www.instagram.com/p/C4phrSHNpec/?utm_source=ig_embed&utm_campaign=loading" data-instgrm-version="14" style=" background:#FFF;
