たった1つのミスが失点に直結するゴールキーパー(GK)というポジション。当然ながらGKがゴールを決めることはほとんどなく、ストライカーやドリブラーに比べて目立ちにくい部分もある。しかし、裏を返せばセーブひとつでチームを救うこともできる、勝敗のカギを握るポジションとも言える。今回の企画『Unbelievable Saves』(信じられないセーブ)では、各クラブの守護神たちが見せた驚きのセーブを紹介していく。
今回は、ユベントスのポーランド代表GKヴォイチェフ・シュチェスニーがミラン戦で見せたスーパーセーブだ。
若くしてアーセナルへ移籍し、世界トップクラスの若手GKへと評価を上げたシュチェスニー。しかし、安定感を欠くパフォーマンスにより、徐々に出場機会を減らすと、2015年夏に心機一転ローマへ移籍。セリエAでは安定したセービングを見せ、再び評価を上げたシュチェスニーは、2017年にユベントスに加入。同クラブの伝説的GKジャンルイジ・ブッフォンから背番号「1」を引き継いでいる。
0-0と拮抗した展開の中で迎えた25分、ユベントスディフェンスの隙をつき、ボックス内で相手の裏で浮き球のスルーパスを受けたDFアンドレア・コンティが、これをユベントスDFの手前でフリーになっていたMFルーカス・パケタにダイレクトで折り返す。
パケタがこれを頭で合わせ、ゴール右隅に丁寧なヘディングシュートを放った。相手のワンタッチプレーの連続に反応が遅れたシュチェスニーだったが、そこから素晴らしい反応を見せ、ギリギリでボールに触る渾身のセーブ。ピンチを切り抜けた。
シュチェスニーの好セーブもあり、0-0のスコアが続いたが、試合は後半に決勝点を奪ったユベントスが1-0で勝利している。
◆シュチェスニーがミラン戦で見せた素晴らしいセーブ

ネドベド氏がアル・シャバブのスポーツ・ディレクターに就任、副会長務めたユベントスでは9連覇に貢献
