アストン・ビラは20日、コートジボワール代表FWジョナタン・コジア(30)がカタールのアル・ガラファに完全移籍したことを発表した。契約期間は2年半となる。

2014年に加入したフランスのアンジェで台頭した189cmの大型ストライカーのコジアは、その翌年にチャンピオンズシップ(イングランド2部)のブリストル・シティに加入。イングランド初挑戦となった2015-16シーズンにリーグ戦19ゴールの活躍を見せると、2016年に同じくチャンピオンズシップに所属していたビラへステップアップを果たした。

2018-19シーズンのリーグ戦では39試合9ゴールの数字を残し、同クラブのプレミアリーグ昇格に貢献を果たしたが、自身初のプレミアリーグでは6試合無得点と苦戦。

それでも、昨年12月に行われたEFLカップではクラブ・ワールドカップ(CWC)参戦の影響により、スタメンの平均年齢19歳と182日というクラブ史上最年少のスカッドで臨んだリバプール相手に2ゴールを挙げ、5-0の大勝に大きく貢献していた。

アストン・ビラがスタジアム改修をスタート、ユーロ2028の会場となり5万人収容に変貌へ
