▽残留を争うウェストハムが痛恨の痛手を負ったようだ。イギリス『スカイ・スポーツ』は、同クラブのニュージーランド代表DFウィンストン・リードとイングランド人DFサム・バイラムが今季絶望の重傷を負ったと伝えた。

▽リードは3日に行われたプレミアリーグ第29節のスウォンジー戦(1-4で敗戦)で先発出場するも、前半27分にヒザを強く捻ってしまい負傷。自力での歩行が不可能となった同選手は酸素吸入器を付けられた状態で担架に乗せられてピッチを後にしていた。

▽一方、バイラムはそのリードに代わってスウォンジー戦に途中出場するも試合中に足首を負傷。試合終了までプレーを続けた同選手だったが、試合後に足首のじん帯を損傷していることが判明したようだ。

▽『スカイ・スポーツ』は現時点で両選手の正確な離脱期間は不明なものの、今季中の復帰が絶望的な状況だと伝えている。

▽現在、残留圏内の14位に位置するウェストハムだが、降格圏の19位ストーク・シティとの勝ち点差はわずかに3ポイントと厳しい残留争いに身を置いている。その中での相次ぐ主力DFの離脱は大きな痛手となりそうだ。

日本人も多くプレーするイングランド女子サッカーの人気沸騰…残り6節で最多入場者数を更新、2月には歴代最多の1試合6万人超

イングランドでの女子サッカー熱はかなり高まりを見せているようだ。 FA女子スーパーリーグ(FAWSL)は、イングランドの女子サッカーの最高峰リーグ。プレミアリーグに所属するトップクラブの女子チームの多くが参戦している。近年は日本人選手も大量にプレーしており、今シーズンはなでしこジャパンでプレーするMF長谷川唯(マンチェスター・シティ)、MF長野風花(リバプール)、FW宮澤ひなた(マンチェスター・ユナイテッド)、DF清水梨紗、MF林穂之香、FW植木理子(いずれもウェストハム)、FW浜野まいか(チェルシー)、MF籾木結花、MF宝田沙織(共にレスター・シティ)がプレーしている。その他にもワールドクラスの選手が多くプレーするFAWSLだが、今シーズンの人気は圧倒的だという。イギリス『BBC』によると、15日にスタンフォード・ブリッジで行われたチェルシーvsアーセナルでは、チェルシーがクラブ記録となる3万2970人を動員したとのこと。この試合により、今シーズンの総入場者数が71万7721人となった。年々人気が高まっており、2022-23シーズンは過去最高の入場者数を記録。その数は68万9297人であり、すでに今シーズンは記録を更新することとなった。なお、リーグ戦は残り6節、36試合あり、いかに今シーズンの集客数が飛び抜けているかが分かるだろう。その要因の1つは男子チームが使用するスタジアムでの試合数が増加したこともあるとされ、スタジアムのキャパシティが大幅に増えたことが影響。ただ、そのキャパシティを埋めるだけの観客が集まることが熱狂を産んでいる。 2月にはアーセナルがマンチェスター・ユナイテッドをエミレーツ・スタジアムに迎えた試合で、6万160人を動員。これはFAWSL史上最高記録となっている。 2024.03.20 13:10 Wed
